Hello guys,

I have got a tap on about the 5th floor,  the tap direct to hose won't pump the water up high enough to we're am working, so I have put a tank next to the tap, with a pump and battery running it up 200 m of hose to the poles. Anyway it's been a ball ache to say the least but am finished now. Well I thought I was, they want me to pressure wash the next section of roof cladding but it would take forever to fill a second tank at the end of hoses using this method.

Q. 
Would using a booster pump instead of shurflo be any better or would this not work. Remember it has to go up about a further 40' in height and through the 200 m hose into a second tank.

Options are to fill using original set up, fill up work til empty, come back next day or wen full, battery life would be a problem.

No mate nothing. This is the nearest tap by about another 200m and down another set of stairs.

Worst case scenario I will hand ball drums of water up but I don't want to.

I could do with a cherry picker to move water in the perfect world but ATM this isn't goin to happen.

Any really strong men out there that could carry 1000L of water up for me

Could you connect a pump at lowest point without a flow controller to a pump 100m up with a flow controller at say 9/10 then another one another 100m up at 8/10 on the controller, next at 7/10 and so on...

Theoretically it'd work as each pump would only be pushing 100m of water up and the previous pump would be supplying more water than the following pump actually needs.

First thing I done wen i started this job was to connect up to this same tap and run it, I thought oh it's a beast hot water going into hose but would only get it up about 15 ft up the stairs. I could feel the heat in the hose, so tried cold tap still not enough pressure.
So I set a tank up next to sink with hot water through hose into tank.
This works running a shurflo and a battery but it's only giving me a medium flo at the end of 200m, don't forget I am about 40-50 ft further up in height and 200m away.
This was my first thought but it would be slow, I have never used a booster pump and thought it may work but it's the height it would have to push the water.

Are you suggesting using more than 1 pump on the hose, and would it work if I got 2 batteries and 2 pumps on same hose ?
1 at the start and 1 after 100m of hose

I would have to buy another hose to run 2 separate hose up there but an option.
I have told the customer they will have to pay me labour time if I have to hand ball it up.

Can you use a pressure washer as a booster, or fill a wheely bin and use pressure washer from that while still filling bin (if that makes sense).

Are you pressure washing Matt or cladding cleaning with WFP ??

As above use the pressure washer near to the tap, drawing from a wheelie bin the pw will push water to your lance.

Otherwise I'd use a suitable 240 volt booster pump connected to the mains

That could just do it !! But would it push up a height of 40ft say.

I have finished cleaning these, with wfp from on top. I now need to pressure wash cladding on the next roof, that's full of bird muck. I am only allowed to walk along a gantry about 2ft wide, and under no circumstances can I stand off it.

Ok av got me thinking cap out the cupboard.......
If I have my jet wash on the roof and I buy a fat hose to feed it about , well I will measure but let's just say 100m as my inlet, and drop this off the roof to my van tank, would it suck the water up to the machine
I think I best ask Ben from Rutland pumps.

I reckon it wouldn't work and bugger the p/w pump up and would have to be 100m of suction hose, your best bet is a 240v in line booster, machine mart do one.

Yes your asking too much of the pw to suck that high.

I'd boost the water from the tank to where you are working into a wheelie bin then pressure washer next to that the pw should have no problem with the 40 ft lift to where you work ( assuming it's a decent pw of course )

Ok then guys booster pump it is.
The only problem is getting a good flo of water, the actual job is a piece is p.
Would I be able to use my 8mm hose if I can get an adaptor. Otherwise means me buying 200m of hose just for this job. I suppose it would be a nice hose to have, even better if I can get them to pay for it.

You will need better pipe than 8mm,  things like this need to be priced into the job at the time of quoting, without being harsh, you will either have enough in the job to cover the cost or look at the time saved by spending  out to do it. And you'll never be hunting for a piece of hose again !!

50 meter rolls of garden hose can be brought for around £20 or get 1" lay flat hose, that's pretty cheap to get and work well from the pump to the tank

This job hasn't had a price put on it yet, I just get given the work and told to send the bill in, I never rip them off and I will explain to them that certain bits need to be bought for this and future work, a decent 240 booster pump, and a very long hose.
Tbh mate it will save them money, if I was to hand ball the water up it would of cost the best part of £200 labour, if not more due to access with barrels up ladders screwed to walls

Are you suggesting leave machine in van, and buy another 50m of hose, I already have 3 x 25m, the machine would be about 100m below me,and about 20-30m into the roof.  I suppose thinking about it, it would be like being in a cherry picker, in theory.

The pressure washer was going on the roof with me and a tank but my nearest tap which is far away, so I was looking for a solution, to get water to were am working,

Don't think of the job as a tower block, think of it a a site, there is no access to water were I am working

But I think you have gave me the solution, as long as it will work.
