Transit Custom
« on: March 19, 2015, 12:09:10 am »
I have had my Custom for nearly 2 weeks now so thought I would do a little review. For me the worst thing about the van is the vinyl floor in the loading area, it's a nightmare, it is very slippy >:( , I can't believe the millions of pounds spent developing this van and they go and put in a floor that is useless for carrying goods ( that is what vans are normally used for right? ) The cab is also tighter for passengers than the Mk7, and there are  not as many cubby holes. There is a little recess  in the Mk7's on top of the interior door panel, making it easy to close the door when getting in, annoyingly they have done away with this and now you have to close the door with a handle that is further down the door than it should be. The drive itself is good, although there does seem to be a bit of lag when going through the gears.  Can I have my Mk 7 back please  ;D
Ach, I'm sure I will get used to the Custom................................................... hopefully.

You will get used to the gears.

I can leave most vans behind at the lights.

The gears are very very very long.

Mpg will improve. One thing I would say is don't drive it like a grandma for the first 10,000. Don't rag the hell out of it. But give it some beans when warmed up fully. I knew a few friends who never got rid rid of the tight engine feeling. Performance and mpg suck after 40k from them.

I have mine booked in for a remap. 400 torque 172 ps should be.
