Tank size for Toyota Hiace
« on: March 18, 2015, 05:34:41 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I was looking to get a new water  tank for my Toyota Hiace.

Does anyone know what is the largest that will fit and that the van can carry.

Thanks for your help.

I use a 650 flat in mine, Payload has to include everything.

Swb payload just over 1 tonne

Lwb I think is just shy of 1200 kgs.

Above figures are what I recall, don't hold me to it.

Thanks Rob,

Mines a lwb so a 650 is probably the biggest.

Is there a reason why a flat tank rather than upright?

Cheers

Smaller foot print.  Airlocks are a problem with flat tanks, especially if you are parked half on the kerb or the wrong way on a slope.

I've got an upright 650 in mine.

With a payload of just under 1100 kg I reckon a 650 is totally fine, aslong as your not carrying generators and pressure washers etc.

I keep meaning to go to a weigh bridge with mine but keep forgetting.

No reason for the flat other than thought it was a good idea lol, storage on top.

I think if I was doing it again I would go for the upright, would give more room in the van.
