Pre-washed scrims?

Just bought a couple - do they still need breaking in/boiling etc or are pre-washed ones ok to go?

Never rated the pre-washed ones, in fact I hate them. There doesn't seem to be enough material in them.

I can remember the smell of boiling scrims now  ;D

Years ago I found they still took quite a while to break in, until they got nice and soft . . . . .and they would get a hole in and drop to bits !!!

I usually just wash them once first- although I have used them from the packet before.

i still wash them first.they need breaking in a bit as well dave.

years ago scrim was much thicker and i used to buy it by the yard off a massive roll from  local hardware shops.they ve all closed down now. :(

scrim quality is just not as good as it used to be.just like lower quality resin that we seem to be buying these days. >:(

I bought some "pre washed" other day...they defo breaking in. I tried to use it and was awful, fine after a hot wash tho  ;)

Hi Dave, you still need to boil the pre washed one 2 or three times to get them at their best,

Can I just chuck 'em in a saucepan for half an hour?

I put a pair of trainers in washing machine with pre washed scrims come out lovely.
