« on: March 10, 2015, 05:15:54 pm »
Had a good day today possibly best ever £££ -  but not got an extreme pole so question is to anyone gone from a SLX to extreme .... was it worth it ?

Anyone can answer ... but know what Daz will say already  ;D .... oh and that rough piece of work Jon Boy Walton he just abuses them so he will say no  ;D

have used both. yes extreme is a joy to use. but i would not personally get one for a domestic round due to wear and tear and cost.
if you have right mix of commercial/domestic then you could possibly justify it.

clx for staff, slx for myself, extreme 40 feet upwards.

Tbh its the biggest jump i think.

CLX TO SLX on the smaller sizes you don't really notice the weight. Only the whip/bend/control.

SLX 18 to extreme 18 Big difference.

Been using a 30ft extreme all day today and forgot it wasn't the 18 !

I keep mine a year now and just flog em. Cheap as chips to throw away really considering what they earn you!

Slx takes the abuse and is well light enough

I went from a 22 SLX to a 25 extreme and I think it's worth it. I've got elbow problems and it's noticeably different to use, especially going over connies etc. It doesn't feel quite as robust as the SLX but just don't abuse it. At home I use dewalt drills etc and I don't abuse those either! If you're a big strong lad then the SLX is good. If you feel you have a reason to buy it then you won't be disappointed. I do actually think you can work quicker with it.

the flogging on bit is good idea plus purchase cost against taxable profits (remembering to show income from sale of course)

So does a Extreame wear quickly then on domestics , you would expect 2 years use for that price .
Pure freedom are doing a new pole soon , the clamps are suppose to be amazing

I use the Xtreme 25 for my work which is mostly domestic stuff. I'm very happy with it. I've had a clx and SLX, still got them both, still use them occasionally. But the Xtreme is excellent, more rigid, light (obviously) and I find it quite robust. I had the second section snap on me, but it was because I had the habit of giving it a whip movement to remove excess water. Stopped that now. Worth the money imo

I luv 'em. Latest ones have a metal collar to slow down wear. They don't wear out completely all in one go anyway - top section wears the quickest followed by the number two section. It's quite feasible to simply replace the worn sections one at a time.
Extreme pole, extreme brush - the best combination for lightness.

I don't think you'd get 2 years from one on residential's. Unless you were very careful. I got less than that out of an SLXII. Still had life in it when i sold it but an extreme would've been done for.
It's a premium pole, for premium work imo. I look at it as i wouldn't have a Rolls Royce as my 'everyday' car. And i don't have an extreme as my 'everyday' pole.
But when the job warrants it (high stuff) out she comes.

Could be why you think wfp is rubbish bud. I used to use extreme brushes but now it's all sill brushes. They do a fantastic job.

Similar thoughts myself.

When I first started I used extreme brushes for a year or so, then I started to notice in low sunlight on really dirty windows that they just don't shift the dirt, and it builds up over time.

Extreme brushes in my opinion are only for very clean windows. They struggle with anything else.

I use a tecbuk now, but sill brushes work well too.

;D I thought wfp was rubbish when I used Vikan Sill brushes. Still say it's a poor method of cleaning although my customers think it's great.
