got a diy system and keep having to replace batteries which i charge every night for good 10-12 hours

for a few hours i have a great flow of water then all of a sudden it dies down

tried changing battery today which was reading approx 12.55 using battery reader

same thing hardly any water pumping out when i lay pole on floor prob pumping out about 8-10 inches

not sure if the split relay is working on van struggling to get hold of an autospark round are way have left txt mssage and voicemails and no on gets back to me

could this be a pump or controller issue as i went to halford kicking off using newish 3 month leisure battery as excuse but they checked battery and said its fine

Does the split charge relay have an inline fuse ? mine does just after the positive connection from the vans battery. I've had the issue of leisure battery running flat during the day a couple of times and in both cases it was the fuse to the split charge relay that had blown.

possibly ive not yet looked to be honest im pretty useless with these things hence why ive tried contacting electricians

any garage will sort that split charge relay,

if you are charging it every night you shouldn't really need a split charge relay at all , could you have over charged it?

I would either fix the split charge relay, which will be a fuse, a brand new one is only £20 and just charge the battery like once a week, or depending on your mileage never.

or don't bother with the split charge buy a leisure battery and that will easily last all day for you charging every day no problem

ive got a new leisure battery on it bought in november

i even bought a smart charger from halfords thinking maybe its my charger from rac that isnt working properly

even with smart charger on it 10 hours a night same poop happening just annoying me coz wanna get work completed with out any hassles for customers not bothered about the money as have another lad going out doing bulk of work

Are you sure its a battery problem ?

I'm no expert, but I did not think that water flow drops as a battery weakens, it just cuts out at a certain battery level.

Had my Grippa setup coming on for a year. Perfect split charge setup.

On my last van. I installed the split charge relay and killed 3 batteries in around 18months.

Bet the SCR is rubbish.

fully charged battery should show between 12.8-13.3v when taken off the charger. 12.55v indicates 50/60% charge. it may be an issue with your charger... ctek 5 or 10 amp are the best.

also split relay charger with blown fuse wont help matters.

how do u check calibration its corwoods one from spring i think

turn flow to ur normal level
extend pole to max working height and get lad to hold it steady
push left arrow button in at same time as on/off button (far right)
CAL should pop up on display
adjust until water is flowing out of brush head at height
set cal

my calibration was normally about 45 but water supply was phasing last week so increased it to 52 and flow now steady ... no idea why I had to redo the calibration ?

take the flow controller off, run flat out they are so much hassle Richie, if the battery is dying you will hear it, fist the water flow will slow and the pump will sound quieter than usual

Have you got good electrical connections on your pump/controller to the battery or have they corroded or come loose? Do you have a filter before your pump that's clogging up? Has your leisure battery got electrolyte water topped up or are you cooking your battery?

If your split charger is working then the pump will run o.k. with the van engine running even if the battery
is flat.

i think its the split relay myself not working coz ive been thru so many batteries and when battery does seem to be charged it works fine hoepfuly get it sortd over the weekend cheers to everyone whose commented

Richy turn on the van engine and if the pump starts to get more power or pump better then its not the split relay.
That's how to check if its working or not.

its weird sometimes ill turn it on and it does help or itll kick in a bit later on

then other times it just stays the same, like when i went to halfords kicking off the other day it hadnt been working and i said ok il put my pole on floor 30 mins ago it wasnt pumping out properly said to the woman that should pump out about a 1.5-2.0 metres when fully workin turned it on and low and behold it worked fine ha

Sounds like you've got a slight air coming into the pump suction side use ptfe tape on all connections tank to filter and filter to pump

How many pumps you running off the battery and what size battery is it, i.e how many Amp Hours (AH) ?
