So the varitech thread has been locked by admin.
They advertise on here, right?
That's a conflict of interests, surely.
People bitch about bad service all the time.
Let the poster and the supplier give both sides to their story.
That's the idea of the forum isn't it?

I think it's bad form if a company is getting threads locked because they advertise.

(Ignore this if they don't pay for advertising)

Can't say for definite but the response looks like admin locked it.

"There are 2 sides to this story, please deal with Varitech directly regarding this as it will only result in Varitech responding on here with their side."

Perhaps Richard (OP) can shed light.

I'd be interested to hear exactly what the problems are. As I seriously considered these guys for one of my systems.

I wish to respond to this post and to the initial post yesterday about us, as it is unfounded in its entirety.

In the first instance, we don't advertise on Cleanitup. We supply our products mostly via a dealer network throughout the UK and it would cause conflict of interest with our dealers if we were to advertise here.

Secondly, to give our side of the story, the customer who is local to us had a van system installed by us in July 2012. Nearly 24 months after the installation he had some small issues which required us to have to work on the van for a day. We attended to the issues free of charge and even wrote the customer a cheque as a gesture for having his van off the road for a day. We had an email from him after the work was done thanking us for what we had done to rectify the issues.

Yesterday's outburst was nothing to do with the van installation at all, but because we declined to quote him on a hose reel.

Our standard warranty on all products sold by us is 12 months from date of sale. We went beyond what was required of us to see this customer right and to meet his after sales service expectations.

In my opinion, he is doing the window cleaning fraternity a dis-service by treating suppliers the way he does.

Why decline to quote for reel .

I don't want every customer who asks me to quote for them.

Why, Poleking?

He's been drinking the Toilet Duck again.

One thing I would suggest to suppliers who get a bit of a slagging here (deserved or not) is that by trying to get threads locked, or posts removed, it tends not to quiet them down, but it winds people up, and new posts just crop up like this one.

My suggestion would be to rectify the problem, if possible, or ignore them if undeserved and just crack on with your business.

And the negative posts will just slide down the forum and be forgotten about.  Kicking up a fuss tends to have the opposite effect here; these lot are like trying to herd cats.

I don't think someone would go OTT on here just because a company declined to give a quote for a hose reel.

Very odd.

I don't think that's the whole story or maybe it's as Tosh says.

I've known Richard from when he ran a shop in Plymouth prior to opening Varitech in Heathfield. He is very trustworthy and a very helpful, obliging person who will help anyone if he can. I have no problems trusting Varitech as they are very helpful and their customer service is excellent.

Not at all.
Richard was quite scathing in his original post.
If it was just a case of 'they won't sell me a reel' then fair enough.
I think Richards side to the story will be somewhat different.
Though, curiously, he's not posted, so perhaps that is the whole story in which case he was well OTT.
If varitech just say we declined a sale and then a different story comes out later, it looks bad on them.
I have no affiliation with either but honest reviews of companies will do us all good.

First post by Tosh sums up the reason why we declined to quote on the reel. There is a correct way to communicate when things go wrong, to arrive at a mutual outcome. Working with your suppliers even when things go wrong, as they do, builds respect and ultimately helps you to achieve your business objectives.

When its one sided and the customer can only see things his way and becomes demanding and unreasonable, abusive and threatening then I would rather not have that customer.

I would also like to add, we never requested the initial post to be locked. It was the forum's decision.
