went on my round today one of my cussttys come out to say someone had put i card threw his door asking if they wanted there windows done,cut the story short this has happened to me twice same guy his first year in window cleaning,i have phoned him up calling him all the swear words under the sun,claims he can just do what he wants,i have had my patch for 16 year now for him to do this it is classed as poaching ,i have told him he has got to buy in to a window cleaning business its the way it works,he disagrees now things are going to nasty by this i mean fists are going to be flung about, why wont to listen to how window cleaning works ,other windy mates have come to agreement,someone cancels with me and approaches them fare does (vicea versa)

If this isn't a wind up, then you are the kind of scumbag window cleaner that gives us a bad name.
Phoning the guy up and swearing at him and threatening to beat him up because he put a leaflet in one of your customers doors, what an absolute bell end you are. Everything you have written is pathetic and embarrasing.

I am one of those who leaflets all over other peoples " patches" got quite a good round building up for not much money. Odd at some areas I get nothing and move on. Then others I get loads. I think your in the loads area  You do a rubbish lob and you have an attitude problem. Time you lost all that money you paid for your round. It takes more than £ to run a business

Whoops ive wet my pants, patch!!  There is no such thing, if you provide professional friendly an reliable service you should have a problem,  but ringing him up going blah blah,  your having a laugh, your lucky if some fudgepacket rang me giong blah blah,  I would turn your phon into a suppository and smile while posting video of it on u tube,  all jusst for the cheak of it, 

every april they come out of the woodwork with flyers call calling, but I know if im doing my job right and providing correct service,  ive got nothing to worry about, its that simple, I dont need agreements with any local shinners, I just get on with my jobs,

I met a guy in similar circumstances to the OP recently. He wanted me off his 'patch', well his words were that he has been in business 25 years and therefore the estate is his! Now I know for a fact that he bought the work last year, so I have actually been working the estate longer than he has! I told him firmly, but politely that I will continue to work the estate as I have good, regular work there, and will take on any new customers who approach me. Balancing it up, I told him that if I lose anyone to him, that's fair game too.

Couldn't argue with that really, could he, so off he went, huffing and puffing!

I know I am too nice for my own good sometimes, but my message to the OP is simply, do a good job for a fair price, and be friendly to your customers, and you'll have nothing to worry about.

ive had loads of leaflets/canvassers etc,etc go round lots of my work over the years and ive lost.......errm..........one customer last week as he s £3 cheaper!

i bet he doesnt last 5 mins as he will have to clamber on 2 ROOFS(he s trad) to clean 2 windows as well as a small conny and skylight all for £7!

i have 4 days work on this estate(90+ accounts)

i phoned him up and passed a potential customers number over to him as i didnt fancy it(in another area).he texted me back and thanked me.i also said id pass some gutter clearing jobs over to him if he wants as i dont offer this service anymore.

i probably get large chunks of my work canvassed/leafleted around 4-5 times a year EVERY year.

its part and parcel these days mate.it helps us all keep on our toes and keep providing the best service possible for our customers.

Quite often in some areas I work, I get informed by my customers that other windies are out trying to undercut my work, I don't worry as I do a good job for a sensible price.
Had work lossed occasionally to undercutters and got them asking to come back again, but won't take back messers.
I take some work off other wfp' ers and trad's as basically they're rubbish or unreliable.
I'm behind with my work this month owing to a bereavement in the family and a road accident and I'm getting even further behind with new work request (large jobs), will get round to fitting them on my round when I get the chance to get back to normality.
I chat with other windies whilst working, I pass on inside work to a couple women who clean insides and ironing and in return they mention me to some folk, don't see it as competition, just clever networking.
If you feel bitter about other windies nicking your work then do as some do on here and become selfish and never contribute to this forum and exaggerate your hourly rate of pay forgetting to mention or the negatives of being self-employed and running costs to encourage yet more competiton from more wannabe newbies bored and suicidal living on the minimum wage
