May as well learn to trad, never know when it will come in handy..

Whats the best brand of gear to get?

do i need different size channels?

i know nothing of trad, so what are the basics? and whats the cheapest gear thats decent enough to do the job?

Value bucket,

14 inch ettore Squeegee, the 'stainless steal master one'

14 inch strip washer (applicator) with unger green scrubber/mop

Blue scrims, way better than old grey ones...

Some fairy liquid,

A scraper,

Some old towls cut up to use on the frames,

That's about it really, you can always buy longer channels for bigger windkws if you want, most just use a 14 inch as standard

I would add a 6 inch squeegee. For Georgian windows and above doors.

I keep 6 and 12 inch channels in the bucket with my 14 and 18 inch squeegees. I also use a builder's pouch for cloths and bag of change, with bucket on a belt clipped to it.

He already uses WFP, so he would be better to use pole for these type of windows, if he is just learning to trad it would take him ages to do a Georgian window with a squeegee.

think jakey nailed it. i prefer the ettore handles and a 12'' unger pro channel, probably the same as every other stainless  channel but i think they seem to get less dents and scratches when i drop em lol.

You are right but what about inside windows.I bet if he done one house inside with GEORGIAN WINDOW HE WILL BE A EXPERT AT TRAD.

Yup, Paragon fishscale are the ones I use. They're excellent and very reasonably priced.

The microfibre cloths I have are a year old and are still as good as new. Scrims are ok when they are new, but once they start to wear they rapidly disintegrate and leave lint all over the glass.

Although they come under 'micro fibre' there far from it really, there just really rely good scrims, so much better than the old grey ones. These ones work like a dream for detailing and soak up the water better than the grey scrims. There also really good for inside windows when you have to 'scrim' the window of a ade won't fit...

Yup, Paragon fishscale are the ones I use. They're excellent and very reasonably priced.

if you use new scrims,....boil 'em first and don't use softener in the wash. Add a big plastic loop on a belt as it's quicker and easier pulling off scrim and putting back on along with BOAB
