25litre Di Vessel
« on: January 31, 2015, 07:19:14 pm »
Can anybody recommend the best way to fill up a 25litre di vessel with new resin and allowing ease of getting the filter insert back in?
Used to have the smaller one but I am guessing the larger one is more of a pain.
Thanks

You need a funnel mate works a treat then after resin fill with water makes it a whole load easier to thread back on .

You don't "need" a funnel, you can do it by hand- as I have done for over ten years- although a funnel would be handy. However, in regard to re-inserting the riser tube- after you have filled the vessel with resin, you then need to fill the vessel with water (tap water is just fine). It is now much easier to insert the riser tube with the resin beads suspended in water. ;)

Just ensure the resin is liquified before you try to pour it in to the vessel, you do not need a funnel. Simples.

exactly,
all this fannying about with scoops and funnels just makes more work for a very simple task.
Clean bucket, resin mixed with water (ro if you can) and pour it in the vessel.

maths !
you know the capacity of your vessel and the bucket you pour it from, you need only mix enough water in so you can pour the resin.
If you are still unsure, mix less and top up if need be and then you will know how much for next time.

I wouldn't fanny about mixing it with water first. Fill the vessel with resin either by hand or funnel then just add water. Talk about complicating matters!! ;D

not complicated at all, quicker and less messy, but each to their own. I'm really not bothered if you agree with me or not  ;D
was just trying to offer advice to the op, do it whichever way suits you.  ;)

I agree. Whats hard about pouring it in. I have a 25 ltr. Just empty all the sack in, add water, place top on

On reading again it appears you are all talking about filling a 25 L vessel ?
So yes filling a bucket with resin and pouring it in may be fannying about  ;D definately  fill with some water though before trying to re insert the riser tube.  ;)

I have an 11 L vessel
I found that using a scoop or funnel was messy and slow. Resin is light and sticky, the funnel would get blocked, resin would get spilled and stick all over the thread of the vessels opening.
I found that it was less messy, easier and half the time for me to fill my window cleaning bucket with resin to 10 L mark and add water ( just enough to be fluid ) and pour it in to the vessel with no mess or spillage.
But doing this with a 25 L would be perhaps more time consuming as it would take several buckets  :-[

Thanks for the replies. Very helpful. Wasn't my choice of a 25 Litre vessel, it came with the package but it has lasted for ages. Cheers.
