Hi guys.. I've just done the gutter clearing job from hell (by hand) and have decided it's time for a gutter vac.

Could you possible give me the "definitive" list of stuff you need or have bought to make gutter vaccing as easy as possible? Poles, vac hose, u bends...?

Links would be really handy too 

I can get my hands on a 2kw generator, would this be ok?

That's funny, I just walked away from a gutter job from hell with a gutter vac 3600W  

Started tugging a clump of grass out fifty feet up only it pulled a rather large lump of mortar with it. Roots were wrapped around the cement. Got part of it showing over the gutter and just decided it was too dangerous to continue and abandoned the job. Told them to get a cherry picker.

And obviously put away .

Does a Vac machine guarantee it all out .

How far down a down pipe can it go down or suck up

Mortar was obviously cracked. Vac wouldn't lift it out completely - too heavy but it did slide it partly over the side.

I doubt my Nilfisk would touch it (1800W)


I have 9 Superlight sections so around a grand for them
Top section has a u bend secured with a threaded bar with two munson rings and a plastic nozzle. Topped off with a Gopro £300+
Nilfisk - about £130
3600W vac around £300 from what I remember
Few metres of hose.

Generator £400 for Chinese double that for Japanese


Probably going to sell the big vac and genny as it doesn't get used very often.

Be a nice luxury to have . But think I will not bother .

Just a heads up to anyone buying a nilfisk multi 30T, the new stocks coming through now are 1400w made in Hungary
and not 1800w made in the EU

We had to replace 2 and managed to get the last two on the shelf from our local machine mart.
Some retailers are still saying 1800w.
What you have to look for is the silver label on the back of the machine which tells you the wattage.

Remember watt does not equal suction. Watt is the power consumed by the machine. I am considering building a cyclone for my vac as this improves the suction of a normal van. Need to know more you tube cyclone and research it. Some of the vacs have a side 45 degree entry for this exact purpose.  Its creates a constant swear-ling action suction.

Yes DaveG that's the nilfisk, but although they list it as a 1800w you will be sent the new stock 1400w which you don't want air flow not high enough. Visit your local machine mart and pick one up from there at least you can check the wattage.

The nilfisk 30t has always been 1400w , 1800 was the max watts when starting up.

This is correct , wattage isn't the most important thing its the suction spec and the nilfisk is very efficient.

Yes the 1400 watt aren't as good I'm sending ares back hate it..my 1800w as more go in it

Keep your eye open for Lidels 1400w vac when it comes round again - has more suction than my Nilfisk 1800w. Far cheaper too with metal body.
