Redundancy 8wk switch
« on: January 23, 2015, 07:09:00 am »
So custy has emailed me asking to switch from 4wkly to 8 wkly , Would charge extra under the circumstances , I normally add 50% for 8wkly but it would feel a bit wrong in this case .

personally I would stay with original price,at least he kept you on,most would have sacked you if they were made redundant

Very true , that's what I was thinking but I will outline that if circumstances change for the better and they decide to stick with 8wkly their will be a price increase

most would have said they would've sacked you if they were made redundant

I've fixed that for you, as this is what the hard businessman window-cleaner likes to portray himself as.

They are a good custy pay through GoCardless , Informed them I am holding the price and not applying 50% increase ,

They  were very pleased and grateful they are a young couple and good payers which is fairly rare as a lot don't want or can't afford a window cleaner on new estates .

Everybody loves us while it suits and they can afford, when their circumstances change its always bye bye now.
When he gets another job he may be used to 8 weekly cleaning and not change back and your left with one that you would normally charge a little more for.
Never easy is it?

If you are constantly trawling for work, theres no need to hang on to that sort of  wishey washey work.

besides itll do him good to A-save the money   and B- give him summat to do,clean his own windows for the meantime

Although I am 8 weekly, I agree with Bart. If he wanted to go to 16 weekly I would say no. In a nice way, but I wouldn't want that kind of work. If you have plenty coming through best to just let go.

I clearly stated that when circumstances change if they decide to stick with a 8wkly schedule a 50% increase will be applied .

Bart i am not constantly trawling for work almost 15 years in business now and plenty of work , Trying to be considerate  as they did'nt sack me .

These are changing times custys will look more to alternative frequencies as a different generation becomes our new custys , I am 39 and got a few years left in the business yet i am very aware that good custys can turn bad and rip you off .

If a custy is fair with me and honest and will try and be fair with them , My one simple act of kindness could gain me more work .

I take it your not the type of person to help an elderly person with shopping or anything  :P

Your customers are not your friends. You have a business relationship with them. You are not a charity and they cannot "sack" you as you are self employed. They can stop taking your service if they wish.

8wkly I totally get what you're saying . We take a chance with every custy if we stay more detached then I believe sacking off custys would become more frequent as is the odd rip off all off younger custys

Mike, I would imagine you have a very nice successful business. Your attitude toward's customers is refreshing. Taking the hard line with customers does your business no good reputation wise. I try to bend over backwards to help my customers through there good and there hard times. What's the result of doing this? Your reputation and customers referrals go through the roof. Be bothered and help them out and it pays you back 10 fold. But who am I to say.
If you fancy a coffee some time matey it would be good to meet.  We are only down in Redcar, I want to pick your brains about your website anyway lol.
