Anyone feeling guilty?
« on: January 15, 2015, 01:45:07 pm »
Just pooped back in for lunch and the sun has come out - my windows were cleaned Monday and are absolutely minging again. Bet my customers are impressed!
Ah well, back out now for some more daylight robbery I suppose  ;D

Very stormy here today, I cleaned mine yesterday it will be interesting to see how bad they are tomorrow.
Most of my customers don't get home until dark at the moment, they will be in for a shock when they see the
state of their windows on Saturday morning.
As somebody who has always took pride in my work I find it more demoralising than anything else.

But imagine how dirty they would have been if you hadn't cleaned them on Monday.

That's the way to look at it. No matter how dirty they are now, they would have been even worse if we hadn't cleaned them.

The circle of life. We clean windows, then they get dirty' we clean them again.

No we clean windows then they get dirty over a period of time and then we clean them again, nothing wrong with that
but when they are dirtier a day or two later than before they where cleaned then it does make you think... I wonder what
my customers really think of my service.
Don't have the answer as we all need to make a living but it does make you wonder.

Quite a few custys very pleased to have their windows cleaned for the first time this year ,

most custys appreciate that we have to work in some crappy weather at times and most probably only happens once a year so they don't mind otherwise loads of them would be complaining never happened in almost 15 years

And they still go to the car wash pay a fiver and their car is minging in 3 days

We've cleaned in howling wind today don't normally but so far behind with Xmas break and yesterday morning was lovely and sunny, by the time we got out about 8:30, the sky dropped a load of white stuff everywhere and our drive is on a hill we can't get out unless we shovel and shovel and curse and curse. ;D ;D ;D
Don't think people will be bothered most just happy to have them cleaned they were minging with all the foul weather and us being late. ;D

We can't control the weather Sean. Reasonable customers understand that. This only happens a few times a year.

I used to worry about it years ago but all your customers really want is someone that's trustworthy and reliable. They know and understand that we have to work in all weathers to make our bucks which is why they never comment on your previous clean!

Working in hail / sleet today and thought wonder how these will dry but like Johnny 87 said they would be really bad if I hadn't taken off the layer of filth that was already on them.

Customer paid up no problem and thanked me for being committed ... normally would drop any customers that said not today but give em a pass in current conditions.

ive not had any customers contact me after ive done a few days here and there then heavy weather that night but i do feel guilty and i know i wouldnt be impressed myself paying for a service only to have them shiny for a few hours.
i make enough in the summer and explain to the customers i dont like getting wet or cold so its inevitable i will be a little late over these winter months and most understand although i do have a few crazy ones who text asking if im coming while i look out my windows and theres bins and trees blowing down the road so i will do cleans if they ask although i think its pointless and wasting money but hey its not my money!

i got more customers than i can handle at the moment im looking at bringing someone in to help now as every week im picking 2-5 new ones up and ive never knocked a door lol.
i spent 10 years being a mechanic working in the cold and wet and to be honest im a fair weather window cleaner, im happy with that as i'll just make the time up on dry days but with work getting silly i am having to rethink either stop taking work, take someone on or start working a day or two in heavy rains.
just to be clearthough i will work in light rain but not what weve had lately with the 40-50mph winds!
