Advice on idea for water harvesting.
« on: January 12, 2015, 11:38:43 am »
Hi all
I want to harvest rainwater but will be doing it from customers premises.
Figured out transfer method from barrel to van. Once in tank on van I`m then going to pump from one tank through a di vessel into tank that feeds poles. Reasons is I can pump from barrel to van at 200lpm then polish water whilst in transit. The rainwater will be filtered via fifty micron filter and will accept water 50tds or lower.
I understand that on average 1 litre of resin will produce 20,000 litres at 1tds or 400 litres at 50 tds but what I can`t find is the maximum flow rate you can put through the resin. I`m sure 200lpm would not work.
I`m thinking of 5 to 10 lpm but would still like advice.

Just pump the water into the tank in the van through a sediment filter, then from tank you have your pump
and after pump you have your D.I. or a double D.I. which I would recommend as it saves on resin.
So your pumping water through the resin and onto the glass as needed.
Rain water is still low in TDS so your resin will last a long time.

Only problem is I want to add Vision. First repeat with it today and customer is raving about it.
I am hoping to get enough water to use all year round.

Most windies are sending water through at 5lpm flat out. Don't see how a di unit could possibly handle 200lpm  :o

If you're saying you'll accept 50 tds then chuck the resin away.

I just put it straight into my tank then it goes through the di as normal.

Cant see how your going to achieve that when using your customers water.
