Fixing hose reels to van floor?
« on: January 08, 2015, 01:22:39 pm »
Hi all  :)

I've had enough of lifting my hose reel in and out the van all day as I'm currently using ports...

Could someone please tell me the best way of securing 2 reels in the back of a Primastar van?

If the floor is ply lined, add another sheet the size of the reel base and screw down to the other ply in lots of places around it to keep,it secure. Get some 22mm pipe clips screw them in the ply and secure the reel.
We look at them, they look through them.

I have the option to have my reel inside or outside the van.
When inside the front of the real is pushed down on to two rubber brackets that hold it in place that way you can pull it in and out as desired.
Grippa tank fitted them for me they may sell them separately.

I have mine upside down bolted to the roof , don't lose any floor space at all. Open back door grab hold of hose and start walking.

I get sick of lifting reel out of van. Its not light. I need to remove it. Eventually I will drill a hole in floor and vent out back. Eventually ill go electric. My only concern is when it gets knotted up

Yep my thoughts exactly. Just waiting and waiting on my electric  gizmos :(

I can't work out what is better. Fitting cox reels, fitting roller system or fitting them at shoulder height!

can you explain how tech screws work,     do you screww them into van flooring also,  or do you just screw them into the wood as a normal screw

That's looks very nice, but your floor space is minimal, you could achieve that nice look by turning them hose reels upside down and bolt through roof, that way no need for frames

I would have thought that pulling down vertically and out at 90 degrees is going to wear the outer of the hose?

Do you smash yer hands on the frame reeling in and do you have to stand inside the van to reel in? Looks like a lot of effort to me.

Works perfectly. Only issue is when two operators wantito reel in at the same time.

Tbh I feel winding in an effort in itself. So went for cox electric reels.

CBA with winding in a hose anymore and that's after 4 years. Cannot wait.
