anyone got on of these systems heat wave, I am looking on getting one .
has anyone installed one them selfs and how much is the add one on the frost start bit, and talk on this would be great running costs... can you fit yourself....and so on cheers guys

I have heatwave, had it professionally installed. Running costs are minimal tbh, there is a good way to use them and a bad way to use them. The frostat controller is worth while 100%, just put a return to tank so you can recirculate through whole system.

I think you could fit it yourself, if you can read wiring diagrams. Get the company you buy it from to fit it, there is always a deal to be done when spending so much money.

The controller is around 125-150.

If you want an alternative, try looking at Grippatank. They offer a hot system, and more importantly, excellent service and back up.

To be fair, hot or cold, I'd use them.

Just for your information 'poole bay', our HydroHeat diesel heaters can be supplied as part of our GrippaMAX crash tested system or as a retro fit to an existing customer system.

The frost stat & tank return comes as standard with our HydroHeat heater and we offer a 5.2kw or 9.9kw version. We can offer on site demonstrations as well as vehicle collection and dropoff if required.

The system can be installed by a competent engineer - installation is recommended to be done by the supplier to maintain all the relevant warranties.

thanks guys, whats the return tank ? is this when its starting to freeze tank and pipes and the system back flows into main tank to keep at a certain temp ,I live in poole dorset I bet most of the places that sale these hot boxes are miles away gripper whats your pricese .dave you still use the one I sold you ?

My heat wave was the second one they made and no problems 5-6 years later,you must buy the frost stat controller as it stops everything freezing in the winter. You could leave all windows and doors open in freezing conditions and nothing would freeze due to it powering up when temp drops below 5 or so degrees,it circulates for 11-12 minutes and shuts off until needed again.Grippa use exactly the same heater it just dosent have the cabinet around all the gubbins and tbh it looks rammed in behind the blanking plate with there setup. Well well worth every penny I wouldn't attempt myself unless you have a reasonable knowledge of electrics

The return feed is fitted near your hose reel. At the end of the day you would plug your hose reel back into the return feed. With the system switched off, if the internal temperature probe reads 2 celsius, it will fire the system back up, and will circulate hot water from the main tank, to the hose reel via the heater, and then back to the main tank. It will run like this for 10 minutes, and then shutoff. If the system reads 2c again, it will kick back into life again.

We are in Cambridgeshire, but we visit customers in Hampshire on a monthly basis.

Prices for the 5.2kw start from £2395 + vat and £2895 for the 9.9kw - however if you email us via the website, i am will ask the sales team to look at the pricing for you.

Hi NWH, your quite right. We do use exactly same heater, however all of our heaters are fitted within a cabinet as per manufacturers instructions.

I've got a heatwave


Had three in various vans, there all still working as sold on to others
on my third heatwave now this one is 4 years old it's the 9.8 but set up for one man
wouldn't use anything else,
in fairness in all this style of heater the burner units can clog up and cost about 300-400 to repair they are according to webasto a yearly serviceable item which no one ever tells you
Still I wouldn't use anything else, mines used all year

If your reasonably able fitting is easy I had wbasto fit my fuel line in as its a pressurised system on t.5 was about 120 inc vat, but it is a luxury but I could so why not

Most customers have the system installed by our engineers or a local mechanic, as the installation is not to be taken lightly. However if you have past experience on working with vehicles then it can certainly be done.

The heater should be serviced every 2500 working hours (approximately 12 - 14 months).

Be aware they are really heavy units in cabinet form,I could not believe how much it weighed when it turned up.costs about £30 a month to run
