Pole storage...
« on: January 01, 2015, 07:20:37 pm »
How do you guys store your wfp poles in the van?
Thinking of getting storage hooks of some variety to screw onto the ply lining on the side walls, I've had proper welded up hooked which were secured to the roof but found them a pain in the backside for banging my head on when climbing in and out of the van. Not interested in waste pipes secured to the roof either as it's the same problem.

Any help appreciated thanks  ;D

i used the smaller gutter pipe with gutter brackets, £10 a length cut in half to make 2 holders and 4 gutter clamps £4 absolutely solid and going nowhere!

Fixing them on with zip ties is a handy idea, must try that out with the gutter or soil pipes and position them somewhere well out of the way of my noggin! A trip to b n q tomorrow then, thanks ;D

Thanks very much! Yeah solar panel works a treat, and the pole holders are a nice easy way to store your poles

jake   are they just gutterpipe brackets you have used to attatch pipe to roof,    are they bolted or tierack to secure.
where and how much was your   reel hose guide.      is this solid ,for your daily use.  does it mean you dont have to take you reel out of van now

Ionics sell nice bit of kit for your poles, and not to expensive ( shock horror). It fits across the inside of the roof of the van and holds  5/6 poles, its worth a look.

I have a grippa two pole holder inside the van.
There circular brackets attached to a track on inside of van roof you can add more if required.

in my vivaro i have gutter pipe and two brackets. pole sits on it easily. Converting my new van to wfp. VW has a roof panel which means i cant secure onto roof as not sure of where to screw onto. Cannot be bothered taking it off as lights all fitted into the roof headlining panel

I remember watching a video of a cleaning show (but can't find the video again) on YouTube of a guy who had designed some sort of brackets to hold your poles vertically onto the passenger side of the van when driving about through the day from job to job, does anyone know if they were made available for sale and any good?

Screwfix waste pipe with waste pipe brackets, then drilled through bulk head, and the hose guide is from b&q cheap but is pretty darn solid, and never had a reason to take hose reel out of van, Jose guide helps with stopping it getting trapped etc...

The problem with storing poles in tubes is, you have to insert them backwards also doesn't the tube rub. I just slot it on hooks the same way I hold it

Why would it matter what end went in the van first?

Ive always used waste pipe. The butt cap and the first clamp rub on the pipe but it doesn't do any damage.
The only damage i found was when i used cheap pole hose. As it always bent at exactly the same point on the butt cap, when cold the hose would split at that point.
Not had it since using Gardiners hose though.
