Hi I tried to do a clean today but even though everything covered in bubble wrap my hose and pump frozen and digital display not working.  Can't get van in garage so any ideas for a heater in the back.  Could I wire it up to a leisure battery and would it keep pump frozen free???

Many years ago before hot water I used to put a fan heater in the back of the van to thaw things out,prior to doing this you might want to pour a kettle of water over the pump as it's all metal it will take ages to thaw out otherwise

i work in devon mate to your question no a  heater to the leisure battery will not work have you got a oil filled radiator put this in the back of van plug in to an extension lead this will help or or when you have time fit an immersion heater in the tank put this on a timer on cold nights  guarantee not to get frozen get this done by a good plumber a mechanical flange is needed to fit in the bottom of tank

Thanks I think an oil heater is probably best but it means trailing a 50m extension cable up an alley to the van as no parking directly by house but that's better than a broken pump and no work.

i do as above , but did not last night , and i paid the price , day lost due to takin a chance , all nice and warm now , im the only one in the car park with no ice on me , 8c and toasty inside .

Heater now ordered which probably means there will be no more frosty nights in devon.  Just hope I havn't damaged the pump to much.

You need a fanheater to circulate the air in back van oil heater just warm one part of van like I said to stop freezing circulate the air

I have my pump is a sealed, plastic electrical box with inlet & outlet ports fixed to it. I can just disconnect it & bring it inside if needs be or I could fill the box with insulation. I have an immersion now so no need to do either but it might be helpful for people who can't heat their vans.

This is one of the best convector heaters you can buy. Three heat settings, timer, thermostat AND a built in switchable fan for fast heat dispersion. I'll not go into the story but these heaters saved my neck one winter in a stone cottage with no heating!!

i cant find my heater since last time i used it was 2 years ago but i could have done with it today as my pipes where frozen  and took a hour to defrost with the misuses hairdryer.

so bought a parifin warm lamp to stick in the back.
