So my old boots have split and started leaking in water. Just wondered what the most popular water proof wfp work boots are on here befreo i buy some new ones?

How do you get on with the toe cap? Do they dig into your foot at all when bending down, where they crease in the top of the boot?

i got mine from screwfix £20.00 hi top trainers steel toe cap safty shoes made by site. realy comfortable. And i got a pair of fishmans neoprene socks 4 quid from aldies that i ware when im pressure washing.

No, not at all. It's a plastic toe cap & mid-sole. The quality from this company is head & shoulders above the rest. Got this to go with them too, good stuff-

Thanks for the ideas folks. I ended up Buying Some hiking boots, supposedly water proof from "go outdoors" They were only cheap at £30 so thought i'd give them a try!

Been there tried them binned them. They are not waterproof don't know how they are able to say they are.  Gortex all the way for me.

+1.... Might be waterproof for the first week if you're lucky! Stopped buying anything now from the likes of SportsDirect etc!!

and wasn't expecting much from them to be honest.
I applied some waterproff dubbing I already had and been wearing them 3 months now each day for work. Exceeded my expectations and are very comfortable, keep my feet warm and dry. The soles are much better too than the cheap karrimore offerings I had bought in the past.

I think Gelert have now gone the same way as Karrimor- bought out & now made to a lower standard/budget. Gelert used to be fantastic quality but from what I've seen recently this has dropped off dramatically!! I remember when I bought some Karrimor "leather" waterproof boots. After three weeks they started to fall apart & what became apparent was the "leather" content of the boot. It was a micro-thin coating- thinner than paper coating a material construction!! One gentle scratch & it was breached!

I do agree with the dubbing though.

£30odd weren't they...? Can't complain at that.
I was 18 months in on my Berghaus but they were £150odd.

Using waterproof trainers from Mountain Warehouse. Tell no lie. They are the dogs. Spend 3 hours in snow messing kicking snow etc. Thought they would be ruined. Still like new. Love em

when it gets really cold i switch to wearing my black rigger boots from b and q(about £45)with thermal socks and ski pants.

I read on one website that it's best to buy 2 pairs of boots when working in a wet environment. Where one pair one day let them dry naturally all day the next day while you are wearing the second pair. If you put your boots on a radiator or dry them too quickly they won't last as long as they will end up cracking the leather and glue.
Tried this for last 6 months and it works a treat. Feet never been wet and the boots are lasting longer!

i always buy goretex or similar type boot. I have used berghaus, meindl, brasher  but have found these to be the best of them all. I am heavy on the ball area of my foot and these have last me about 16 months so far. Getting worn out now but already have my other ones bought.
