Speak to A Plan insurance... They will look after everything ... P L ... Personal... Home... Car and van which includes a replacement wfp set up....

Be careful Jay as most are not worth the paper they are written on and I believe there are only a very few who will cover you for the glass you are working on.. Mostly its an exclusion

I was certain the fella said if my van was off the road through an accident that they would supply me a van with WFP system in it when I phoned to arrange insurance. I took out insurance, but it was niggling me what he said. I phoned for clarification of a van with WFP being supplied in case of an accident and the fella told me they didn't supply them, but only a van. I cancelled the insurance there and then.

I have just insured through Aplan and have only good things to say. You are informed that you can pay extra to have your tank insured or take out a separate tools cover.
However without wishing to state the obvious the post was about public liability and not motor insurance.

Any policy that costs less than about £150 per year is unlikely to cover 'property being worked on'.

Not a lot of good to a window cleaner >:(

they all  do if you have window cleaning insurance,   that is what you are getting PLI. for.  Cleaning windows.   it sounds strange wanting liability insurance  if you cannot work in the sector you have this for.

when i asked constructaquote about this they seemed amused that you wouldnt be insured for any claims while window cleaning,   when this is your work to be insured for.

The trap is that there are lots of PLI policies for general trades use.  These don't specifically mention window cleaning but most of them have a clause that says "Excluding the property being worked on".  This was introduced to stop kitchen fitters, plumbers etc from claiming if they cut a piece of material (worktop etc) in the wrong place and rendered it unusable.

The wording is important - a general 'Tradesman' type of public liability is unlikely to cover you in the event you break a window while cleaning it.
