Have you ever lost your motivation?
How did you recover?

You don't need motivation to get out and work, you just need to get out and work.  Bring the body and the mind will follow.  This works in all areas of my life; from work, to running, meditation, and even sex (I'm middle-aged).  I just take the action.  I don't need to feel like taking the action first, I just do what needs to be done and the feeling will follow.

Fake it till you make it; just take the action - get yourself in your van - and work.

Motivation will follow.

That's good advice.
We probably all lose a bit of motivation at times.
But as Tosh says don't think about it too much, make it a routine just the same as taking a shower or cleaning your teeth and sometimes you will find that you actually end up having a good day.

Sorry to hear that Rich, hope you feel better soon.
I need to just go out and do it and not think about it.

I think it happens to all of us from time to time.

I just work through it... And then one day when I'm out cleaning a window I realise that my motivation is back... There doesn't seem to be any reasons as to why it goes and then comes back again...

Excellent response by tosh

Motivation is only the thing that gets the ball rolling, what you are looking for is commitment and discipline.

When you decide to do something you do regardless of how you feel motivated or not it doesnt matter, dont feel like it today? tough youve decided. Action is all that is required

i didnt want to work at all saturday gone, but dragged I disagree out of van and ended up with £60 in tips and £180 done in 5 hours , had a great day even though felt knackered, just got to get out and do it as you dont know what will happen, when i feel unmotivated  i count my blessings, no boss, can do what i want , can have as much / little work as i want , (so long as you keep your overheads reasonable).... i love the benefits of this job, sometimes its lonely and montonous but the fact your outdoors being your own boss is unbeatable 99% of the time

i must admit though i stormed off a commercial job last week after standing in a huge pile of dog s**t for the third time that week , thats the 1% i hate , that and arse ole custies, the weather i can live with

New bits for work motivate me like a new pole -vision for example,I try up what I do over the course of a week every year. Working on your own you must set yourself targets it's far to easy to roll over and F##t loll,I don't know how some on here can start at say 9-10 in the morning to me I would feel I was behind alday trying to catch up I get out to be starting work for about 7-50 even if I look out the window and it's raining very rarely does it rain alday long.

A tidy van, tidy equipment and being organised helps. Set out your worksheets, know what your doing that week and get it done!

Yes Tosh, I like that.  Many times I've done a later start because I can't be arsed - yet once I get out there, it just happens.  So I just get on with it earlier now.

I used to feel exactly the same, but i have to start most days now at 9.30 , but with some efficiency and good work you can still earn well in 5-6 rs a day , im looking to find some commercial now for early morning to bump earnings up
