Yep, I've had 2 sections snap, the first one was my own fault as I tried to close a top window which was stiff. The second time I was scrubbing slightly harder than normal to remove bird poo, snapped just above the raised clamping area, pole wasn't even that old :-[

Nothing lasts forever, once you've worn that strengthened section down it's only a matter of time. Don't forget poles wear from the inside too. The clamps are so good these days that they keep on gripping right 'till the end.

Why would anyone buy a pole which only seems to last 18 - 24  months, there are so many good poles out there, slx, clx, swift +.  Extreme = expensive and fragile.

I plan to buy an extreme pole sometime this coming year, and even if I only get two years out of it I would still be tempted. I've had my slx 25 for four years now and love it. (I'm very OCD with my pole care so 2 years for the extreme should be minimum.)

It still only works out at about £25 per month to use the lightest and most rigid pole in the world.

My Xtreme 47 is still going strong, had it since release & had no problems with it. I don't treat it with kid gloves either.

I thought that might get a response from the Gardiner gang, seriously though there has been several comments on this site about the fragile nature of the extreme ,24 months for a pole of that price is not good enough. Also unless someone tests all the poles of a similar price how can you say its the best pole on th market or not.

Lightness and rigidity are measurable. Bestness isn't right enough but the claim wasn't 'best pole'.

If you think the Xtreme is fragile you obviously haven't tried a Superlite modular. You also fail to understand or appreciate the trade off between lightless, rigidity & strength. Under these circumstances you should stick to fiberglass barge poles & be subject to the daily toil that goes along with them!! Good luck. ;)

It is a claim that's been made on this site several times, hopefully someone with more money and time than me will do a comparison.

I've never tried one myself. Too expensive for me.

Facelift claim their new 'neon' pole will be lighter.

Hopefully some of the £1000 a day boys will buy one and do a comparison.

i have poles from Gardiner, ionics, brodex, all price ranges. I do know my poles. I still think 24 month is not nearly long enough a life span. Ps i know i will never convince the Gardiner gang, it just my opinion. There are other very good pole on the market and they last a lot longer than 2 years .

Really? I have never had an everyday pole last longer than 2 years, that includes Brodex scaffolding poles. I use SLXs now, they are about 18 months old and mostly still going strong.

The Xtreme pole brings a new level of ease of use to the WFP market - this is because of its use of ultra hi-mod carbon and its unique and Patented construction and design. This enables it to be both light and rigid, which is the 'holy grail' for a lot of WFPers - I can't believe that the Xtreme has been on the market for nearly 4 years now  :)

However there is a flip-side and that is that it has very thin wall sections which are not as robust or as wear resistant as an SLX or Super-Max pole. This is the decision that users/buyers face - for some longevity is more important and for others it is lightness/rigidity in use.

We have produced prototype versions of the Xtreme that are even lighter (35ft pole that is 800g), however we found that the strength and longevity decreased as the weight decreased. A balance between the two is needed.

Of course the Xtreme poles are covered under a warranty and if something breaks we will take it back for a full examination and replacement if needed.

With the Xtreme poles it is vital to follow the pole user guide in detail with full cleaning and maintenance to be carried out as per the suggested schedule - most SLX can get away with ignoring such things, but Xtreme users cannot. This is particularly true if the Xtreme is an everyday smaller pole (18-25ft). The larger size Xtremes that get used less often with less opening and closing of sections tend to last much longer - My original Xtreme47 is well over three years old and has very little wear.

We find that the most used section on the Xtreme poles (#2 & #3) can last anywhere from 12 months (under hard use) to 3 years (when very carefully looked after).

Iv excepted that my extreme pole will need x2 new top sections every year or a little longer, tho I'm not willing to go to a clx or slx. Id rather just cough up once per year on sections

My first extreme 25 is still in use four years old then Alex upgraded new clamps, works well. It's been passed on too a friend last week, to see its last days out

I'm happy if extreme lasts me a year, it's a tool for a purpose does a job earns me money, it's only 40-60 a month over a year

Sooner have light weight pole to work with, means I  can work longer in my later years cuts down on body wear and tear

It's a bit like saying if you can afford to but a rolls Royce you'd do the school run every day and a trip to aldi.
The extreme is expensive and fragile but at 50, 60 feet your shoulders will thank you for it.

A ford ka will do the same job as a rolls Royce but what would you prefer to drive...

My original extreme is still going strong, I made simple modification to clamps to achieve the same results as upgraded clamps, but then I do have collection of engineering factorys stock in my garage, lol
but extreme pole is still king of the mountain, I have worn out joint in right sholder its bone on bone and if it wasn't for lightness an rigidity of extreme I wouldn't be still cleaning,
