Who else pushes gutter clearing this time of year?
« on: December 17, 2014, 06:36:29 pm »
It's a good idea, our bookings just passed £15,000 worth lined up for the new year. Been working on it with my mrs week day evenings since 1st nov.

I love this kind if work, as it pays more than my hourly target on regular window cleaning.

Can't stop picking up big one offs at the minute.  ;D

There's always one isn't there. Not that I'm actually taking that badly but this is exactly the reason I don't post here anymore. The figure is absolutely true and we have worked very hard to achieve it. The target is over 20k actually, and we have another month or so, so it's going to happen.

Gutter jobs are fine with the right kit, we have 2 from grippavac with high modulus carbon poles. Best kit of the 4 we have had over the years. Leave the Jenny on the van and the rest is easy to handle.

With a large customer base those numbers are easily achievable. I don't understand why people can't see that? We did three jobs yesterday am, before window cleaning, £70, £160 + £175. Small house, big house, children's nursery.

Exactly Tom. As I said we have been calling existing customers almost every night for nearly 2 months, as well as text alerts during the day. My mrs is doing it right now and im told shes at £450 so far tonight. It's actually very easy it's simply a question if getting on with it.

Lee i'm just being nosey, but is there any chance you would give an idea of what you charge for them ? Reason i'm asking is that if its a tele campaigm that will mean you have not surveyed it? And in my experience there are some jobs i cannot do with the vacs and have had to use ladders . Also i've gave a price for a terraced house and turned up to find out the ladders will not reach (normal two storey), so had to go off tail between legs. You just quote and hope you can do it ? I'm not having a pop BTW just genuinely asking as i've gone down the route of quoting without looking.

Hi lee is calling existing customers so he will know the size of the property and access but he also uses a gutter vac so it would be very rare he would have any access issues

Me too, but I vary really get involved in gutter cleans myself, I get my guys to do them. Someone said to me a while ago that if you want to earn money then get others doing the work for you.

I think I'm correct in saying that Lee doesn't do them himself either?

Lee don't you book all your gutter clearing jobs for February? I would like to do that but I get a lot of people asking me to do them before the winter sets in so we have them all through the winter months, but I'd much rather have them all in one shot and get the guys working through the list. How do you do it?

Thanks
Tom

I know Lee will know the size of the properties etc,, But thats not what i'm asking. Lee said......."My mrs is doing it right now and im told shes at £450 so far tonight." Thats fine, somehow she is doing this without relaying to Lee over every property. I've come across gutters that you will not get a pole in, or your hand either. What happens then ? Thats all i'm looking to find out.

When we do it we list all our customers we know all the properties and we tele canvass them with an offer to join the annual gutter clear round we have never had a gutter we could not clear with the vac we have a large variety of nozzles and attachments so we can clear all sizes - as we know the properties we do not get caught out. By having a list and prices the canvasser or caller does not need to relay to lee or other it's all there on the list hth mrs smudger
