I have had my setup like this since I started. It goes vanport (female hozelock) into which a length of 1/2 hose connects with a male to the van and a female to the reel. This is obviously how I shut of water. I reduce it down to pole-hose-diameter with a reducing barb: http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/inline-bore-adapters.html

I was dubious about the pole hose getting caught on the blue-handled valve, but I needn't of worried. It does but no more than what I used before (http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/hose-reel-fitting-kit-with-valve-protector-disc-p-632.html) and it's far and away more robust. On the old PF valve the hex nut used to work loose and the aluminium butterfly handle occasionally snapped off. As you can see from the blue handled valve it has a robust M6 or M8 nut on the top which you can tighten till it ain't goin anywhere.

I went to all this trouble because I was sick to death of Rectus 21 fittings breaking (leaking) after anything from 2 days to a month. I have lost the new pole hose quick connectors after a couple of months use (they never leak, unlike the Rectus) because I originally had the one with a 6mm barb so I could push fit it straight into the pole hose, however the barb kept snapping off, so I went to 1/2" and a bore-adaptor-connector. So far no problems.

The only leaks I get in the van are the ones where the reel leaks from the male inlet when I lift it back in the van - I have external ports so I usually have to uncouple the reel between jobs.

Not sure how that would work once you get your new electric hose reels in operation Pure. If the hose is going to be setup with guides through the van's floor, then you will need the female hose stop on the end of your hose.

When we pack or poles away we put the brush head in first and then coil the hose up from the base. With the Aquadapters we use open, the water drains out onto the ground. I dear say that the same principle would be applied if we were inserting the pole backwards into a tube attached to the roof which I'm considering.

Working on a different idea though.

Just fed up of drips etc. I change poles quiet a few times during the day. I always want the lightest pole possible.

As long as the tank is higher than the end of the hose its possible to start a siphon, no matter how high it has to go up to the reel.

I have female Rectus 21 or EZ-snap on pole hose and the male on the tap which is connected to the minibore.

It has never done that in the 6 months i have had the van, so it should work out fine. Technically the reels are higher than the tank, but the hose outlet is lower than the tank. So it could be possible. Doubtful. But possible.

You could get one made quite easily. Just by welding two together.

All I have done is male to make joined with pole hose. Tiny amount of hose.

Why add more and more joints/connections that may leak over time?

Main problem I can see is the male connector is more readily damaged by hitting the ground, catching on things etc... The female takes damage but only the outside collar not the fitting itself
