Of course it will be sunny Derek  ;)

As Len points out, it's the Garden of England, and they need all the sunshine they can get to make the hops grow 8)  Do they still have Watney's Red Barrel down there?

Seriously though Derek, you missed a cracking day in Devon at the Axminster Technical Roadshow.  Although many of us had big journeys to make, we got close to being kicked off the premises so the staff could go home :o  We were all having such a great time that nobody wanted to leave.

As for the agenda at Ashby's, I think we've got a cracking day instore.  After the Despatches programme last week and the slating of carpets re. allergens, Paul Pearce will be talking on "What makes a healthy home?" Is this topic  good timing or just good fortune?

Ashby's have got lots of "toys" to make our lives easier, and there seemed to be a lot of excitement at Carpex 2006 about their booster vacuum.  Sadly, I was so busy at Carpex that I didn't have the opportunity to fully explore it.

Bio-Productions(the owners of the Stapro brand) have a chemical that would appear to me to be unique. It's what many of us would call a micro-splitter but I gather that it's not used as a pre-spray, but as an in-tank cleaner :o  I need to know more about this

Finally, there will be Brian James Marketing.  Many businesses, whether fledgling or established, often post on these forums about trading difficulties and downturns in trade.  Knowledge about marketing your business is as essential as technical training.  You can be the best carpet cleaner in the world, but thst's worth diddly squat if nobody buys your service :(  Here's an opportunity to learn from a true marketing professional about how to turn your business around.

Running off at a tangent, which is not unusual for me, I can remember a talk given a couple of years ago by a CC himself who was really struggling and on the verge of giving it all up. As a last resort, he took on board a marketing program from another of our industries marketing specialists, and his business turnaround has been nothing short of phenominal.  I think he was even planning to buy himself that super sportscar he had always dreamt about!

If you can make it down to Ashby's Derek, I know you won't be disappointed.  I know that you know the number to contact is NCCA Office on 0116 271 9550, but perhaps someone else might need reminding ;)  All are welcome and people will be able to put names to faces.  At £35 it's superb value, and includes lunch and tea/coffees too.For NCCA Members, this day's extravenganza will be without charge.  Another benefit of Membership :)

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Already booked and going Uncle Ken...Like you I find Derek Ashby's carpet/upholstery bits and pieces facinating and always wonder how I managed without them...

Do I turn left or right at Watford?  :-\....Do I have to pay a fee if I travel through Len's Country?

Glad to hear you'll be there young Derek.

Since I became involved with the Technical Roadshows last summer, we've had one in Birmingham, one in Lancashire, and another in Devon. I've also arranged the forthcoming TRS's in Kent and Northern Ireland.

The plan is to take the Technical Roadshows around the country, and probably have about four a year.  It looks like we will be a little busier than intended with the original plan.

I have provisional plans to take the Roadshow to Yorkshire, London and the East Midlands amongst other areas, but there's much work to be done before these events can be announced. As I hope you will appreciate, there are costs involved with events such as these.  To make it viable for our sponsors, we need "bums on seats".  There has to be enough people wanting to attend to make it all worthwhile.

As well as the Technical Roadshows, there are still occasional NCCA Branch Meetings.  There's one happening next month in Reading. This will be an evening meeting.

Safe and happy cleaning :)
