Canvassing
« on: November 07, 2014, 07:58:47 am »
Hi all, been out canvassing quite a bit lately and lost count of the number of 'yeah, might be interested, can you leave me a card' people and I'm not sure one of them has turned in to a custy yet! Any tips on closing the deal at the door for the 'maybe's'

Yes do a excellent job with any properties that you do pick up in their area.
Get your contact numbers onto your vehicle and try to include a landline.
Do the odd bit of cleaning on a Saturday and take your time, I remember cleaning the lower window frames
with a microfiber just because this highlighted the fact to the neighbours that I was cleaning them.
Took me three times as long but it give the neighbours more time to witness my Oscar winning performance.
What your really trying to do is get these people to trust you, I remember canvassing a development of about 22
very large detached properties, I got one because the person knew a member of my family and the rest were maybes
I now do then all but one.
Reputation goes a long way in this business.

Your simply not closeing the deal properly, when pitching always drop in the line of "we will be doing them on friday" as an example. By calling out a day pushes them to commit on the spot. I know as i do it all the time.

I think the last two posters have it sorted there. I hardly ever get "I'm interested, leave me a card". Cherry pick what way works best for you and refine it. Those two guys do this for a living, so I reckon they have a pretty good idea of what you need to do.
My way is to leaflet the area, and the leaflet tells them I'll be calling soon to see if they are interested and answer any questions they may have. Works for me.

No still don't understand, I must be thick

This is what I do mate if they say might be interested,I say can I give you a quote whilst I'm here,if they say yes,I then hand them a leaflet with all my details,so they know who I am,I then ask them to open the gate if need be,then I comment on there nice car on drive or how nice there garden looks, basically get them talking, I then tell tell them I will clean all windows, frames and doors, then give them price, without pausing I say I call on a six weekly basis,I don't call for money but if you in you can pay me if you want, otherwise I will leave an addressed env for  you to forward cheque,or I can give you my bank details for toy to pay me on line,is that ok with you ? When they say yes take details, tell them when you will be coming, shake hands, then go and knock next door, and then to the neighbour,I clean next doors windows ,do you require a regular window cleaner ? Then repeat as previous
