Pig Sty!
« on: April 12, 2006, 12:59:32 pm »
I'll probably get attacked for this, but here goes . . .  ;D

Have recently taken on some (supposedly) swish apartments locally for a London company who are leasing them for 6 months or so.

It's a basic weekly clean of 16 flats, toilets, kitchens, etc.

We've got into the final one of the 16 and, boy, is it a complete and utter mess.

There's food on the floor, empty fAg packs, sweet wrappers, plates, clothes, condom wrappers, etc, etc .. .. strewn all over the place.

Ironically, it was the only place we couldn't get into first to check . ...

My girls have said that if it's like this on a weekly basis, they want no part of it.  Now, these are experienced ladies who have seen student digs in a better condition.

I've emailed our contact and have been full and frank  ... .

Any suggestions on how to take this forward?

It's 2 (supposedly professional) guys sharing this place.  It may just be a culmination of months of neglect, but I don't want this impacting our otherwise great relationship with the customer.

 ???

If it is a pig sty you may wish to subcontract a farmer to clean it  ;D

Did your girls have words with those that occupy this flat? Sometimes a polite word or two can help, however from my experience if that doesn't work then forget to clean certain areas. Doing this often creates a response from those that truly benefit the clean - that would obviously be the occuppiers. It is at that stage commmunication can really begin as well as some understanding. It doesn't always work but a lot of the time it can.

As for the mess, as an experienced cleaner I've seen and known about far, far worst! :)

The occupants are at work.

Looks like diplomacy was the best policy.  Have just had a cnoversation with our contact at head office, who has apologised profusely and told us to charge whatever we need.

I've told her that is only a fraction of the problem and that it's the general way they are living that's the problem.

She's going to have words, as it could impact the company's deposit to the landlord if he saw it in that condition, so she's looking at the broader impact.

Don't think we'll call in the farmer yet, but will have him on standby for next week  :P
