Window cleaning big leauge..
« on: October 21, 2014, 02:41:30 pm »
I think I may have arrived  ;D

This however is purely based on the fact that having just knocked a new to me area I had another cleaner start to have a go at me while he was parked at the traffic lights, apparently I am on "his patch"  :o . when I pointed out that I didn't believe in patches he decided that the fact that he was there first gave him more right to the work and I should just remember this. I haven't stopped having a giggle about it since...............

He's probably had no competition until now. If he's doing a good job for a fair price, and his customers are happy with him, he won't have a problem. Ones with attitudes such as his, however, often means they feel threatened as they have had the monopoly over 'quality' (as in poor) as well as quantity. Keep smiling, do a better job than him, then his customers, one by one, will find their way to you.

the thing is John everything we picked up haven't been done in months-years and on top of that there are 5 other cleaners on these streets 2 of who live on them.

I have heard of people getting a bit mumpy about "their patch" but this is the first time I have seen it. I think the fact I was laughing at him didn't help, plus the lights changed from red to green and he was getting tooted by cars behind.

I had a nutter like that. Long story, but the best way to handle it is to ignore the prat. If he goes too far and starts really getting threatening, report it to the cops and get a report number or whatever it's called.

It's usually all P and wind mate.

I have several good friends who are also window cleaners, one of whom I have gained several small shops from as they weren't happy with him. If the situation were reversed I would be unhappy, not with him, but my own failings, and would take immediate steps to change things.

We meet up for a coffee every week, and we get on well. At the end of the day (I hate that phrase!) business is business.
