Thanks for reading,been looking at previous posts re winter gloves,but confused as it seems most gloves have fors and against.
I currently have a pair of joka polar gloves,which are ok,once I have had them on the heater vents a while,but they are quote bulky and a bit stiff.making you hands and finger joints ache (also possibly my age)
What are the best winter gloves that tick all the boxes,waterproof,warm,comfortable to wear,stand up to wfd.
All advice appreciated,just want to get a good pair gloves.

the showa 377s with nitrile glove liners underneath are my choice of gloves.cheap and waterproof and not too bulky.they keep my hands  clean.ok not mega warm but ok for most working days of the year.i also have a pair of "pad ice" gloves which are ok when its a little bit colder but..........

if its really cold then my neoprene glacier "perfect curve" gloves come out!ive had these 4 years!again with liners underneath.they keep your hands really warm on very cold mornings.

i get mine from gardiners when ordering other bits and bobs.100 for around £4-50.stops your hands stinking from wearing  gloves all day!

Got some winter cycling gloves from Aldi  for£5:00 they feel really warm not totally waterproof

but a mate of mine got some Browning waterproof spray from a gunshop and swears by it despite trying loads of other re proofing products for his shooting jackets and gloves .

So going to buy some next week and give them a good spray .


I have tried loads of different gloves so for a fiver they are worth a try they are a bit like some Sealskinz I had years ago which cost 5x as much and were crap .

Showa 377 if it's normally cold.

Showa 460 for when it's properly cold.  First day on you'll wonder how you're meant to work with them on your hands.  By the second day you'll wonder how you ever worked in the cold without them on.  100% waterproof and a pair lasts a winter.  I do have a couple of pairs though, as at some point I always get some water inside them, the insulation's soaked and they need to be dried.

Skytec Argon for me. Good upto about -2°C, any colder then it's unsafe for WFP anyway Imo. Can be picked up from ebay for a little over £5 a pair.

I think they all leak like a sieve after a good days graft in the wet , For me they are currently ideal having nerve damage in my hands which even at +6 my hands can get pretty cold easily .

And i like wearing  gloves that feels like you can work with them on which i can easily , So will let you know what the outcome is when i get some Browning spray , Cant find it on the net anywhere and its a 30 min drive to Gunshop were me mate bought .

Bought these showas 490 yesterday, took less than 24 hrs to arrive fron N Ireland.

i have used 460 and 490 for trad work plus wfp. felt 460 you always ended up cold and were very tight fit

hi dazmond !i was being thick,was confused when you said linings,if you had said surgical gloves I would have understood ,as I wear them daily,this time of year to keep the dirt off my hands when the poles gets wet and you get that black muck on your hands,many thanks
