Hit my targets over 3 months earlier than expected
« on: September 18, 2014, 09:50:06 pm »
January 2014 i set myself a target to gain 70 new customers or £700 of extra monthly work.
I am £30 off that target, 3 months sooner than i thought.
I havnt canvassed once and i have only dropped about 1000 leaflets, all new jobs have been word of mouth and people seeing my van.

I know for some of you this target would be met within a couple of months, but im a one man operation looking to have steady growth year on year, as im only young and dont want the stresses of employment before im 25/26.

Im currently about to buy a back up corsa van incase my van breaks again so im not out of work, also a collection car. I paid off my current van this summer aswell so i have a very small out going each month:)

Sometimes i love this job.

Why though? I really dont understand... A brand new van i would be paying interest on(probs) also servicing etc.

My van now has just ticked over 96 thousand miles, full nissan service history, cam belt changed at 70k.
New tyres and disks all round.
Just had new fuel rail.
Its got no rust and hardly any marks and most my customers think its brand new due to the private reg!

Good on you. I've just sold off a fair chunk of work now that I'm working solo and trying to improve on current areas where the prices are going up, so far this week I've had two cancel and gained three.

Whats the reason you sold off work and stayed on your own if you dont mind me asking?

good for you mate!you should see a steady rise in your earnings year on year if your always professional and do a good job!

its a good move to get another vehicle as well thats not a window cleaning van but can be used as a back up vehicle if need be.

plus its handy for collecting and taking your missus out(if you have a girlfriend!) ;)
price higher/work harder!

TBF my last van did blow up and thought **** this and i bought a new one. I thought i would regret it, but now i wish i had done it sooner.

A backup car/van/collection vehicle is a good idea and is something i am looking for next year :)

Ano mate but tbh i stayed well clear of the kangoo's because my brother had one for a work van and it only lasted 3 years then blew up! It cost the company thousands in repairs over the time they had it.
I suppose it can happen to any van, i have put aside some cash incase of emergency aswell

Whats the reason you sold off work and stayed on your own if you dont mind me asking?
Van impounded, worker had police incident.
I have interviewed at the job centre and had emails from some who were to far away and others who had as much chance as the job centre candidates.
I have to say it's done me a favour by giving me a kick up the arse and I now stand better.

Yeh suppose you can sell the crap, replace the messers, build a decent round back up and by that time you might have employed someone.
You may wonder why im awake... Well my house is haunted i think, and my house phone keeps making irregular beeping noises (like someone lifting the phone from the charger and putting it back down)
Am i s*** getting out of bed to go check 😁

Nice going mate , you don't want to spend money on a new van but you will buy a second van to go collecting  ??? ???  , Invest money in a website and get custys signing up to GoCardless and bacs and sack off collecting .

I only do about an hours collecting each month now instead of 16-20 hours . Mike

Theres a big difference between a £1500-2000 little run around or a £7-9 k van...
Honestly i only do 1-2 hours collecting a week! Most of my payers are good and always in or leave the money.
Dont forget you probs have double my round mate so collection would be an issue then for me lol

I couldn't afford to run a 4x4 round as my work car so you must be doing better than me haha
