I have 2 & I like them best out of all ive used, I've just had a few probs with them but with gardiners standard of service its soon sorted BUT in my last chat tot them I was told they were only supposed to be used as an add on to a van mount & not all day every day as I do & might only last 6 mths in this case - they've both well outlasted that now - so do you think they are being miss sold 
as there is no time limit on use that I can see & they know some only use bpacks & not van mounts
The Gardiner Backpacks are sold with a 12 month warranty on most parts (24 months on the tank) - this warranty does not add any conditions on how many hours/days the backpacks have done during the 12 months.
For Health & Safety reasons the website product page clearly states that we do not recommend using these on your back all day, every day. From a practical point of view a van-mount will usually provide less physical strain on standard work.
Of course a backpack that does get used 5 days a week will wear out it components more quickly than one that is used only occasionally - however this would usually only affect you if the battery becomes worn out after the limited warranty time on it. The pumps and switchgear are all rated for in excess of 4000 hours use, so this is well above even a full-time workers yearly use - in fact this is equivalent to about 3 years use. The warranty is only for 12 months though as beyond this time many external factors including wear and tear, type of use, etc. come into play and can affect life expectancy beyond this point.
Batteries have a shorter warranty time on them as it is quite possible to 'kill' a battery within a short time period if it is not charged correctly or by leaving in a completely flat condition for too long between charging. Correctly charged and looked after the battery can a last a long time though, with only minimal charge-hold capacity drop-off.
