I've read quite a few reports of clamp wear and having to be replaced in under a year, I saw a picture a few days ago on here where the clamps had cracked and that was the second time it happened in 2 years. I just going by what I have read on the forums.

Got a 22ft pheonix had it for a year and a half. Good pole. The smallest section has just worn beyond use, so I converted it to an 18ft so still going strong. Clamps are great.
I've just bought an slx 22, even tho the clamps are a bit fiddly ( took a few days to get used to it) I like the idea of getting maximum life out of a pole. Want it to last a few years. Both great poles tho.

Slx for me.

Mine is 3 years on and still going strong. It's not even got the smart clamps on it yet which I will put on when these sections wear too much. Should give another few years out of it.

The pheonix is an excellent pole. The clamps are easier to use than the slx, but the slx is likely to last longer.

Does the Pheonix have sprung loaded clamps? I wore my Gardiners Extreme pole down to less then a 1mm thick in places until it snapped and the clamps were still gripping perfectly as they did when brand new.
