1 big van or two small vans?
« on: September 10, 2014, 07:48:42 pm »
Hi lads I'm coming into my third year now and very soon I'm going to have to employ someone full time as I'm struggling to keep on top of my work load.

Would you recommend me getting a van vivaro size or two berlingo size vans?

Would like to know how others are managing the businesses with vans etc

Cheers in advance

depends how reliable your vans are if you have a very new big van then maybe go with just the one as cheaper to run but if you have an older van like mine are then maybe go for two as you can always have the other out working whilst other is repaired etc

I'm in a similar situation and have a Traffic with a 650ltr system. We had our busiest period ever over the summer but still made it work with the one van, I'm trying to keep costs down to a minimum this year and will invest in spring next year.

We do gutter clearing and pressure washing as well so need a bigger van for all the gear.

2 people in 2 vans would get more done. But it just depends how much it will costs to run 2 vans? My advice would be if you go for 2 vans get them both setup with a 2 man system - if one is off the road for a bit its a pain. But if you have only one van and its off the road for any reason thats a nightmare - happened to me earlier this year, I never want it to happen again!

2 men to a van will only do around 65% more than 1 man per van, unless all your work is very compact or very large.

So 2 vans with 1 van will turnover more work than 2 in 1 van

Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

agree ... if not compact then what you gain by being 2 up you loose with too much driving
