Can resin go off?
« on: September 01, 2014, 06:28:37 pm »
Here's the thing:-

I'm about two thirds through a bag of resin which I've had for months, maybe a year and strangely TDS is coming through at 004 to 006 AFTER the resin.

I was getting 000 on the previous change which crept up to about 006 so decided to change the filters and resin on my Ro-man style RO. Kept the same membranes tho'.

So after letting it run with out resin I get 008 after the membranes which is better than the normal 10 - 15 I get - remember I haven't changed the membranes.

Run it through the resin and it's 004. Changed the resin again and it's still 004.

The resin seems to have gone a little more grainy than it was? My imagination or can resin "go-off"?
It's a game of three halves!

My understanding is it could lose it's polishing power if it gets damp, needs to be re sealed in air and water tight packaging.

How long did you let the new resin run ?  I've found it can take upto 10 mins for the TDS to settle while the old water gets fully out the system
