Value of rounds!
« on: August 29, 2014, 02:51:00 pm »
Have been looking at www.wforsale.co.uk and it seems that the new average is 7 times value and some over 10 times. The days of x2 and x3 are over...
A few years ago i said if i could sell for x10 that id do it in a heartbeat but now rounds are going for that much i still wouldnt sell up however for X20 i would but even then who knows..
Our rounds are becoming more and more like gold dust with so much less work out there than there was 10 years ago where it was a piece of cake to build up a decent round. Its only a matter of time untill it will be 2 years turnover and the way i see it why not.
Its a nice nest egg to be sitting on.

Totally agree but I think to get those amounts it has to be run as a business with correct  break downs of work projections for the coming months/years as well as full customer names address ' contact details email address' etc otherwise for your 7 times all you get is headaches with paperwork chasing and generally underpriced work... This I know as I'm going through it with a chinck I bought recentl but then I hate paying more than 3 times.... Not in Belvedere though ;) lol

I wonder what people are actually paying as opposed to what they're being offered at?
Is it like houses-where the price is a point to start negotiating...

We purchased some work fairly recently. It had a turnover of about £26,500 per year and we paid £22k for it. It is a lot of money to pay, however the guy I bought it from had been cleaning it for just over 5 years and the work is all very close and he had refined it so well that it was worth the risk, and it is a risk because £22k can go towards a deposit for a house. The whole lot can be done in about 6 days by one person. Also there's a lot of extras we do such as gutter clearing, fascias soffits etc and pressure washing.

So it really depends on how the business has been run, how long its been cleaned for and how good the actual work is, money wise. Speculate to accumulate.

And the top line.
A business with an £80k turnover I'd different to one turning £25k
Even if the only difference is that £20k is about 4 times easier to find than £89
