Good old pure, high flow rate and fan jets. When done properly, they come up a treat  :), be prepared to use a lot of water. Best to drag any moss and crap off before turning the water on. Check that the runners don't have crap stuck under them first. I did one once and spent an hour with the customers hose pipe blasting the crap out before I could even start on the glass. Start with the finial, get the crap off one side, then do the other side and rinse the finial both sides before starting on the glass.
We look at them, they look through them.

whatever you do don't use a scraper, even chemicals can stain really easily on the self clean crap

I believe a soft brush is needed to be used on self cleaning glass I just use a Gardiners mixed .

Custy is stuck with glue on glass I would not risk damaging the coating in any way shape or form . Mike

I recon that if the customer know the glass then they also are aware what may damage the coating, sounds to me that they have had some dodgy builders in that they know won't come back and sort the problem out, as soon as you touch the job you are liable and I'd guess this is what they're looking for... avoid avoid avoid!

I have to echo what's said. Don't touch it. You can't get the glue off and any metal object touching the glass will damage the coating. It's a very fine film I believe.

List of what's safe. Not a lot really.

Me muscle probably being the safest.

Always do a test patch.

I wouldn't use any chemicals and would walk away.

Hot water got some silicon off self cleaning Conny roof. Soft brush flocked. Hose off any loose first, do all frames first then just clean roof  like a window pane. The self cleaning coating helps with the finish. Easy really. The coating should start to bubble slightly, this is good. No chemicals just pure water.

PVA should be water based so should come off easily.

I have also wondered this and have been asked many times, so today I made enquiry of Pilkington and here is the official Pilkington instructions

Thank you for your recent enquiry to Pilkington United Kingdom Limited

Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass can be cleaned manually if it has been contaminated by non-organic materials. We recommend gently hosing down the glass to remove any loose dirt. If the dirt or dust remains, a mild, non-abrasive detergent (i.e. one that does not contain solids in suspension) and water solution is recommended. Abrasive cleaners must not be used. To wash the coating, apply the solution to the glass with a clean, soft cloth, sponge or pad and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Dry the glass by wiping with a soft, lint-free cloth. Take care to ensure that no abrasive particles are trapped between the glass and the drying device otherwise coating damage may occur. Steel wool or razor blades must not be used on the Pilkington Activ™ surface. Pilkington Activ™ then requires a short period of exposure to daylight to become fully effective, the self-cleaning property is not activated until the glass has been exposed to UV light from the sun from 4-7 days.

If this proves unsuccessful, one option would to be use a brush or cloth in conjunction with white spirits to remove a stubborn mark or stain. If using a brush, it is essential that the brush should comprise entirely of soft bristles. Furthermore, it is advisable for the affected surface to be completely wet to ensure that any hard particles are rinsed from the surface before, during and after the remedial action.  Even for brushes with soft bristles, the use of a brush should be undertaken with great care and, in particular, avoiding any abrasive action. There are brushes available which have soft bristles around the outside but hard bristles in the centre and there have been reports that the use of such brushes have resulted in scratches.

Informative.

I wonder why big companies think it's cool to deliberately misspell? Activ?! ::)roll
