Will a 4040 booster pump save water?

Only if you change the pure/waste ratio

So, will a booster pump enable the ratio to be changed?

A booster will enable your membranes to work at a more optimal level so it will decrease your water usage (you'll prodeuce more pure from the incoming water than without one)

It will also lower your pure tds

You should be able to adjust your pure/waste ratio already on a 4040 though, there should be a valve/tap you can adjust. The more you put to waste, the slower you produce pure but you'll have a lower tds and visa versa (i think its that way around!)

I'm just hoping it makes the production of water a more economical experience.

i.e. less waste by percentage of total water produced.

It will, it doesnt increase the flow of water just the pressure so by producing water faster it figures that your saving water

not strictly true , pressure and flow are linked .

my flow goes from 7 litres per min to 15 litres per minute when pump is on .

what is your pressure and flow from the tap?

Pressure is 45-50 psi I believe. I dont know what the flow is but it's a 1/2" copper tap.
