« on: July 08, 2014, 07:20:02 pm »
I've got a 40" ro and my pressure is low producing a high tds. In hartlepool we have very hard water 650ish tds to start. Will a booster pump help lower tds. And could anyone advise me which to get please.

You need a softener before r/o to remove those calcium and magnesium deposits in the water.

I heard a story that the council (who supply the water to Hartlepool) have to treat the water to one of the industrial estates. I don't know how true it is, but it could be worth doing a few tds tests. (If they are, then the likely hood is that they will be returning the waste water back into the supply line.) You maybe able to link in with someone who has a unit in there if this is the case.

There are a few windies in that area using wfp, so what are they doing? CNC is from Hartlepool and occasionally comes on here. His name is Justin and he had the same issues as you about 3/4 years back. He had a Vivaro etc van in those days if my memory serves me. He said his water was around the 550 mark.

Your issue with regard to low pressure will be calcification of your water pipes restricting flow. For me I would try to find a small unit in Billingham area which uses a different water source.

I would contact the water board as 500PPM is the cut for contacting them. Over 500PPM and you are looking at undrinkable water.

Either your TDS meter is way out or its a typo.

Your water should be a lot softer than mine.

Bedfordshire is pretty much the HARDEST water in the uk, with ours at 475PPM

Contact the water board. Secondary level is 500PPM for contacting.

cheaper aint better, the clarke is the best. most pumps have to be turned off after a couple of hours so they dont burn out. also the clarke shuts its self off if your water stops for whatever reason and it will last years. well worth the money. dont scrimp on quality!!!

I tested tds on some external water taps today around Liverpool and averaged was about 120, how on earth would you get your water to 000 ??? From 500ish

It must cost a bomb to filter

The manual says the 240e shuts off at 4.8 bar , does anybody know if that can be adjusted ?
