March 2013 for me was whiteout for nearly 2 weeks ... didn't turn a wheel or that's how I remember it so decided to put myself a website together .... www.h2oproclean.co.uk ... tweaked it most months since then so now prob as far as I can take it with oneandone internet.

Does it get me much work ??  ... well now booking from August for any add ons conny roofs upvs gutters etc so very happy with it ... conny page needs a little more work but works for me.

Will be getting Nat to do my next one though as need to look a little more upmarket for my plans in 2015.

Hi Ian

I like your website. Thanks for sharing.

So you are a sole trader?  ;D

On the commercial page: is it 5 storys or 5 stories or a 5 story building? It just stuck me as wrong but I'm confused with how to count the number of stories on a building anyway.

A new website can take a little while to gain momentum, but usually by 3 months you should have reached peak ranking for your setup.

Drop me an e-mail with a link to your site - I might be able to give you a few easy tips to improve things. ;)

Why does it take that long nat? Iv heard you can manually submit your pages to google, would that quicken it up?

There's loads of ways to speed it up - but even if Google includes you in its index immediately you can track your rankings (Use a tool like this one: http://moonsy.com/google-keyword-rank-checker/ ) and you'll see over the first couple of months your rankings will steadily improve even if you're not making changes to the site.

Google is suspicious of newly registered domains - especially if you only register for one year - registering the domain for 2 or more years (Most registrars allow you to go up to 10 years) will instantly help rankings. Older websites often get preference too,.. it takes a while before you can overtake even some mediocre websites if they're well established.

Google also takes time to find any backlinks you have and to figure out your social status from your Facebook/twitter/Google+ pages you have. Using social media to promote a new website (Without spamming too many links!) can get your rankings up where they should be much quicker too.

Registering for a Google Places listing, and including your website link on that listing can give a big boost to local search rankings too.

Cheers mate, thats a big help. My website is probably a couple years old but just had it redone. Their is a lot of stuff on it that needs changing, pictures, social media, proof reading and i would like to try and figure oiut the short code stuff as iv been told you can do a lot of nice stuff with that.

The thing im struggling with is getting a link on pages like yoast is telling me to.
At the bottom of every page put some text about "contacting us", would it be good if link that text to the "contact" page?
Anything else that you see that could improve?
Iv ran it through yoast and its pretty good

Yoast gives good guidelines - but don't take it as law. its impossible to get 300 words, a link, a picture etc etc etc on EVERY page,.. contact pages especially are mostly widgets & Yoast can't see the pics/words/links in the widgets!

Do what you can within the Yoast guidelines, but don't sweat the small stuff. Concentrate on quality, unique (Don't copy & paste anything) content instead & you'll get much better results.  ;) ;)

Since the new year bud.
It's still a work in progress tbh.
Nat asks me to get stuff, photo's mainly, and I could be better at getting back to him.
Nearing completion.

Yup.  ;D

All my sites are built in wordpress now, so its easy for you to make changes/additions yourself if you want to,.. but if you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself I'm always happy to help.

I've got a nice UK based VPS server too, so can offer hosting if you don't already have it.
