If your R.O. tds has went from 10 to 51 in eight months then something isn't set up
right.
You should be getting about 5 years from an R.O.
With your tap tds that high I wouldn't use anything other than a 4040 R.O.

I had the same problem till  i bought a pump. Went through 3 ro hf5 s in two years due to insufficient water pressure at mains. Now no problem,  tds 350 comes out at 7 and fills a 1000 ltr tank in around 4 hours. Happy days... :)

Clarke cbm 240e, just came to me for some reason. hope that helps. water production will be a little slower in winter as it works better in warm weather for some reason?

Ta.
I may look into that.
I'm about ready for a new RO.
I like the look of the shiny stainless steel ones.

I use a4040 ro tap tds 270 good mains pressure, after ro before di tds reading normally  25 even when ro is new.
I've noticed yesterday tds after ro 32 ,so  I'm assuming ro is on the way out.
In 6 years of wfd my 4040 ro only seem to last approx 18 months, even with regular flushing
I wouldn't be happy with rising tds after 8 months.
Im also looking for ideas in prolonging ro life

But when the cleaning warehouse first fitted system a few years ag I went months without changing resin. Now it's every six weeks tops before I'm changing again.

I'm not an expert on this, but from my experience, when I have to start changing resin on a more regular basis it has been a sign of the ro on its way out,but in my case it has been after 18 months.
I personally would go bak to supplier and ask them to replace it,as in my opinion a £200 filter supplied by them and being used in there system should last longer, especially as you have been flushing regular

If you are buying a new ro consider buying a good quality pump as the more pressure you have the longer the ro will last and you dont have to leave it on at night or when everyone is in bed to get best pressure. i put it on when i go to work and my tank is full again when i pop back for lunch.

I haven't changed my resin in 11 months, currently getting 002ppm.
Will let it go to 4-5ppm before I will change it.

When flushing make sure all the water is running to waste if not then its not a proper flush, if
needs be reduce the water pressure when flushing.
Never let your waters pure to waste ratio go above 50/50
At the end of the days water production slowly loosen of the valve so that the water runs to waste
for 30 seconds or so.
At the start of water production let the water run to waste for a few minutes and then slowly tighten it up
to where its making pure.
Shock will shorten the life of your R.O. ( water hitting the membranes to quick and to hard ) especially if they
have dried a little, that's why I would recommend the above.
I find putting the water through the R.O. straight into the tank and then putting it through a D.I. as and when its needed
a less problematic way to work.
The main reason is there no pressure on the filtered water flowing from the R.O. as it doesn't have to be forced through
the D.I. which is usually on the floor and then back up into the top of the tank.
I'm not sure how much pre filter changing helps maintain the lifespan of the R.O. I don't change mine that often
(every 4 months when membrane was new and for the last 3 years once a year) my R.O. is over 6 years old by the way.
I actually connected the tap water the wrong way round so fully chlorinated water went through the R.O. for about
an hour with out damaging the membrane that was 4 years ago.
