« on: June 27, 2014, 02:07:28 pm »
I also bought 5 of the pads that go on the scraper.
I have never used a scraper until today when there was spider poop all over someones windows and i was there for ever!

Keep the white part on the scraper and its awesome. Use a rubber band to always keep it on.

Not scratched ANY glass and i have tried ;)

My only concern would be using the plastic scraper on its own and the edge is damaged and you go to scrape a window :)

Been using 3 days now so much easier I don't keep the white pad all the time just keep one in my unger pouch .

Check windows before hand and attach when needed before extending pole . Did a school yesterday and kids had chucked some unknown substance at upper windows impossible to shift with brush alone abrasive pad cut through it no bother . Mike

This is why we recommend keeping an abrasive pad on at all times and then remove when you want to use the scraper. This means that the scraper blade stays sharp and undamaged - http://youtu.be/YZgFf2ahx28

Personally I have found that the abrasive pad is all I ever need, it easily shifts spider's nests, bird poo, bee poo and snail trails. Whilst I have used the scraper on paint etc, it has been only for experimental purposes rather than actual window cleaning.

Paul

There will be jobs where due to a deep recess and the angle of the gooseneck brush it may catch, but i find that this is rare on my work. I was doing one job on Tuesday that had very deep, old cottage window recesses and I had to step a bit closer to the window to keep the scraper from hitting the top of the recess. Only job of the day that had this issue though.

If you find that you have a lot of jobs like this you could always take one and saw off 1" and then only use with an abrasive pad as there should still be enough hooks to hold the pad in place.

I took the pads off after a week,  the scraper does the worst part but the brush gets everything else.  Together its a perfect system.

I do still have a mainly commercial window cleaning round. The majority of this is looked after by subcontractors for me. However I do carry out about 1-2 days a month actually on the glass myself.

I find that nothing beats actually cleaning 'real work' for assessing equipment and its usability. Also the van is in use on other days during the month so the equipment is being tested for durability all of the time.

I'd seen this on the Gardiner's web site and it looks like a really useful little add on to your everyday pole. I do have one question though, how is the abrasive pad held on to the scraper - what's to stop it from coming off.
P.S. Love my new SLX - pity you didn't have a stock of Xtreme poles when I ordered or I might have bought one in stead.

The Scraper has lots of little hooks on both surfaces which the abrasive pad holds on to.

Does it work with Gardiners resinecks? The page only offers goosenecks as an option.

It works with all of our Quick Release goosenecks. It will not work with screw on goosenecks.

You can only fit them to Gardiner poles with quick release top.

Pah! Alex is a lightweight.

A roll of Gaffer tape and a bit of blu-tac and I'll make it fit.
