am i being mean
« on: June 26, 2014, 03:48:04 pm »
am I being mean if I get rid of customer with husband in hospital with cancer.

she was never a great paying customer, just about paying up before I got rid, now I spend too much time chasing for the money but would I seem heartless if I did.

with to many customers i'm going to have a clear out of the bad payers, but not sure what to do with her.

So her husband is in hospital with cancer......... And you want to dump her?

I doubt she will even give it a second thought. I think she will have far more important things on her mind!

Tell her your switching over to go cardless or standing order.......if she doesn't do it then she will understand why you havnt returned. 👍

If she signs up then your problem is sorted.

I'm sure lots of customers have personal issues going on, but unless this is a customer you are fond of then no your not being too harsh.

I have a few older customers that I've cleaned for years and now there minds are starting to go and even struggle to get up to answer the door.

Do I stop cleaning their windows? No.

I clean them for free while I'm in the area anyway. (Pretty small houses anyway) They've given me years of business and I would feel bad to just stop returning.

But in general I'm running a business and not a charity, so I do require payment. Lol

I had a customer phone me up last night apologising for an unpaid invoice. Her husband died from cancer a month ago, 5 weeks after diagnosis.

Have a heart. Wheres your compassion?

Agreed.  not the right time to put pressure on her, she has bigger things to worry about.  Plus her emotions are probably waiting for that right moment to explode with anger.

Let's be honest........we have all dropped customers and what we class as a "messer" May well have been someone going through something similar.

If it was me I'd keep on cleaning the windows.

But I don't think its harsh to just stop. Just don't pester her for money, if she wants you I'm sure she has your phone number?
