IBC overflowing problem
« on: June 25, 2014, 05:00:15 pm »
Got a couple of IBC 's linked together to store my pure water.
I need to sort a timer or something out to shut off the water as I
have flooded my unit a couple of times recently when I have misjudged
production.I have a standard electrical plug timer to shut off the RO
but need something on the water tap end to shut it off.
What do you guys use? want to go for something heavy duty if poss.
Looked at a float valve but I fill up to four IBC's and they are not all linked
so I ruled that one out.
Cheers Russ

Have a word with a half decent self employed electrician.
They'll be able to make and fit float valves on each one independently.
I've got electronic float valves on mine, it's all automated.
Those ones like you get in the toilet are crap.

I've used the ball cock toilet type ones for years and never had a problem.

Easy to fit and aslong as you do it properly they will not let you down.

Couldn't you have a drain pipe just before the top of the ibc with a hose going to a drain? So if it was to overflow then it should empty faster than it fills.
I haven't tried this by the way just an idea

I use one of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hozelock-Control-Water-Computer-Timer/dp/B0011NT3QC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1403810689&sr=8-3&keywords=hozelock+water+timer

and a ballcock type fitting in the tank.
This gives a failsafe method as there are two cut offs that are totally independent from each other and neither rely on electricity (assuming unpumped system).
I imagine some will tell me that I'm an a-hole now.  That's what usually happens on here when being helpful.
