Just an idea
« on: June 22, 2014, 01:23:53 pm »
Hi peeps, with no car/van cant afford it i thought about other transport ideas and thought about carrying all the equipment/ bike trailer and i came across a garden trolley with the handle and punamanatic tires and thought hey thats a great idea i could use it for wfp and water and trad tools and ladders and anything else i can think of and pull or push it around for work. Im not full time just part time in my spare time. Is it a good idea or a bad one any input would be great thanks.

I know exactly the kind of trolley you are looking at, i have been thinking about getting one myself, though not for work. I live pretty close to a supermarket, and to save taking the car out for such a short journey, i had thought about using one for the weekly shop!.

But back to your question, as long as your round is compact, there is no reason you couldn't use one, and it would certainly keep you fit!. You could probably manage a 200l tank (so long as you don't have to contend with any steep hills), leisure battery, pump, couple of poles and away you go!. You would have to pay some attention to security though (both to the trolley itself, and your kit), and also some kind of brake to stop it rolling away.

i would wait till the round justifies the expense of a vehicle and a say a DIY system and do it

A less than perfect start is still better than no start at all. Stop thinking, and do something if you want to get started. You know that nobody is going to knock on your door asking to be a customer. Go and get some, then work out how to get them done.
No still don't understand, I must be thick

I'd get a normal job, build up some customers, save, get a loan, then get stuck in with a van system.

Could always leave the wfp system for now and use the garden trolley for just water and trad tools an ladders, much lighter then i reckon. Im gonna have to start small and see what comes of it but my problem is im aiming for world domination but first i need to learn to crawl first.

Why not keep it simple by starting off trad. Canvass within walking distance to where you live and build from there. Once you are up and running you could think about getting a vehicle, going further afield and going over to wfp if that is your aim.

Best wishes,
John
