Have you stopped doing, gutter cleans, fascia cleans
« on: June 20, 2014, 08:06:43 am »
and conservatory cleans!!!!!
I  think i have come to a decision that after working all week on the glass i am now fed up of quoting £50.00 for a conny clean and being told "i didn't think it would be that much"........4 bed detached house, gutter, fascia clean including garage  "£95.00, including garage".."how much, oh, didn't think it would be that much"

The one thing i have noticed is that the jobs i dont get all tend to be existing customers, (window cleans) and the quotes i do get tend to be non window cleaning clients
I am starting to think they are influenced by us using the pole system, they probably think "£15.00 for the house, his here 20 mins so the conny say £25.00" i am sure they are pre pricing themselves.

Thought i would share ;D

I've stopped doing them. I'm pulled out with windows so I have to bear in mind going to quote an add on, then disrupting my sleek operation to go and do it- both costing me enough not to bother!!

Nope, still doing them. It's about being able to sell them. Confirmed one yesterday, gutters in/out and windows - £425.00. Two houses next to each other, about 100 meters of guttering. Less than a days work for two of us.

I only do this type of work mostly for non WC customers as I advertise and do leaflet drops away from my round using leaflets dedicated to these add on jobs

I agree with you Bob ref current window customers thinking its only gonna be £xx .......... Mrs Chan as a perfect example ... "you only squirt you brush at it"  ::)roll ::)roll

I now do windows 5 days a week which gives me the desired income and Saturdays are reserved for conny roofs / fsg / gutter cleans and maybe 1st cleans if its a biggun ... this month doing it this way has gave me the best month earnings wise ever  :)

As its a "bonus" income I price any jobs accordingly as in not worried if I get them or not.

With connies I have thought for a while to price high ... very high and offer full valet only ... £300 a pop type of level ... who knows ? ... project for next year ... separate website etc. ...

ive got the add ons advertised on the back of my van UPVC,CONNY ROOFS AND SOLAR PANELS. ;D

i dont clean them if i dont earn £50-£60 an hour(min).if they want them done cheap then they can get someone else to do em!

yes hard work but worth it.i always book them in next time i clean their windows for existing customers and non window cleaning customers on a slack week. ;)

customers are usually very pleased with the results so great job satisfaction! :)
price higher/work harder!

ian you ll burn yourself out pretty soon if your window cleaning a full 5 days a week then add ons on a saturday IMO unless you have staff?

i try and get all my work done mon-fri including add ons.i very rarely work a saturday these days and take the best part of a week off at the end/start of the month(depending on work due)to chill out before next months onslaught. :)

im still well up on earnings year on year in the last 5 years! ;)

Saving up for second van so working like a twit until Autumn ... have a decent winter fund and if don't need it then get 2nd van.

My work used to be done by me and a part timer 2 days a week now no part timer so gotta do it all myself and yup hard going but hate to see un done work at month end slip into following month.

Been doing 8.30 till 5pm this last month most days so managed to get thru all of it and bang up to date ... my month runs 25th to 24th and will be having a few days off end of next week.

Don't want another lad in van with me as im too nice and we become mates and work slips behind, late starts, longer lunches etc. however when van 2 is up and running it will be different as it will be here's the list go do it and don't come back until its done .

minimum £60 plus vat for conny roof usually around £100 for average size, minimum 70 plus vat for gutter fascia soffits cleaning, dont do gutter clearing anymore,

still get the odd few sayng oh can you run the brush over the guttering for me? will a fiver cover it?

they are good earners but only when priced correctly, just because your charging £60 for an hour dazmond doesnt mean thats what you are earning per hour! classic mistake!

I'm amazed that you are unable to get £100-£120-£150 on conservatory cleans. I suppose it's the way it's sold.

I've just been to price 2, (one is right on Dazmonds patch, but don't tell him) quoted £180 for conny/gutters/fascia/soffitts/windows. Prob take the 2 of us 1.5 to 2 hours. She said yes almost too quickly, probably could have quoted £80 more :(

2nd one was conservatory only, small but minging, quoted £120, again an instant yes. Both will be cleaned on the same day, using customers water and finished with pure.

For £50-£60 I wouldn't bother with this type of work either.

I agree Ian. I was using Ubik for a couple of years but for the last 18 months have used virosol and it's much better.

Are they regular window cleaning customers?? or one off enquiries

no wonder I hate doing them, I have been charging WAY to little.

I did a massive conny roof, about 9 panes and charged £20, it took me about half a hour and was pretty clean.

I also hate doing gutters (manually) so have bought a gutter van and going to buy poles in a few weeks and start promoting it.

I was thinking of charging £1\ meter.  so a 3 bed front is about £20?

I'll continue to do them until my gutter vac goes belly up! Price high as they are a pain in more ways than one! If you don't get the job then why be bothered !

Same Bob : I've noticed existing customers expect a keener price than 'walk ups'
