Canvassed Winter V Leafletted Summer Custies
« on: June 04, 2014, 08:27:33 pm »
Just curious as to peoples opinions, based on previous posts where some have stated canvassed customers can sometimes become akward and cancel after a few cleans once the novelty wears off, I would also argue that a few who respond to a leaflet in the height of summer can go the same way.

Which do you think would be the more likely to stay on board long term with no fuss and hassle?

A) A customer who you canvassed in winter and agrees to a regular clean in the spur of the moment.

B) A customer who you leafletted in the height of summer and they called up to book a regular clean that week.

Doesn't make a difference, you will get a mix of good, and bad customers with both methods.

The customers I pick up jan/feb/march are usually the best for me. Not put off by the weather and I keep them for years.

We find that in the winter the rate of cancellation is a lot less than the summer,we find that customers hate the sunshining on their dirty windows in the winter time.

Swings and roundabouts.
A custie picked up in winter is usually a stayer rather than a fair weather custie -unless just wanting a pre christmas clean.  A custie picked up in summer MAY be a fair weather one but no way of knowing till later.
If other things are equal, a leafletted custie is usually better than as canvassed one imo

most customers i pick up these days is from walk ups, word of mouth and recommendation and id say over 90% stay as regular customers for years until they die, move or (occasionally)lose their job.

I have found that my most reliable customers are ones I have picked up either by word of mouth recommendation, or walk ups.

Many canvassed customers were either one offs or messers, although I have some good ones which I have had from the start. I dropped some leaflets but got virtually zero response from them anyway.

Unfortunately i find it takes 3 cleans to see if custie is a messer.

With new customers now when I give a quote I tell them I only offer the one cleaning schedule.

Or say Ian Lancaster said ask em if it is a regular service rhey want or one off clean?

If answer one off, then answer is us "afraid I don't do one off's" ;D

In my opinion people who have phoned you are more likely to be good customers regardless of the weather.

Maybe they were agreed to employ your services because you are a fabulous salesman, maybe just to get you to p off and stop bothering them while they are at home.

Soupy ..you do not like canvassed leads do you.
Imo. .even if you lose 50% of them on second clean with my set up you still will earn more money than you have spent.PLus being on a street we have put you on gives you an opportunity to get walk ups ..where normally you wouldn't have got them.
Canvassing is definitely the cheapest option
