Just a quick question about yell just wondering if you think that its worth the investment im thinking of pumping about a grand into it over the period of a year.

ray

i've advertised with business pages last year in directory and had no response at all which cost £800

this year we have advertised with yell.com for 3 london areas and the herts area for 2 cleaning companys which cost £1800.... NO CALLS so far.... i have complained to yell.com as they say the list is on a rotation system... i've not noticed the rotation....

i would'nt advertise with them again.... make ur own contacts is best
just my thoughts

Hi there guys, well im very busy. i got offered a freebie with yell last oct they got me out of my local free paper and asked if i would like a 1 liner on yell for 12 months free of charge.

so of course i said yes, since then i have had 1 a week from it which i now do on a weekly basis + i've had a few word of mouths from them too. so i can say it works for me.

the cost of a 1 liner for 12 months is £142.00 ive always find 1 liners get more interest than big adds, they seem to be cheaper to the companys i mean there, what im saying is the smaller companies obviously are cheaper .Give it a go i dont think you need to spend a grand advertising.

We too have a free local listing and it generates a small amount of work, something for nothing is always good :)

We had a featured listing and had nothing except 100+ sales calls in the 1st three months then after complaing and getting nowhere with yell i got two calls which more than paid for the add! (sounds fishy to me!)
Looking at the replies it seems to differ from area to area.
Rob.

I think the important thing to remember with yell.com is that if you have a priority listing you must have the link added to your website. If you look in your local area under yell.com you will see 80% do not have a web link. This rather defeats the object, people go onto yell to get online info,so with no web link you are losing most of your potential enquiries. They will simply look for companies with links.
