I've never been brave enough to charge say £50 for a one off (post WW1 3 bed size house) and tended to avoid them like the plague. But I will go in at £25/30 if I have a light day scheduled if I know up front it's a one off and not a messer pretending to be regular.

So fair play.

It's a game of three halves!

Hi Ian, from reading your post at least this customers been upfront & honest about the condition of his windows, even
after you quoted him your minimum starting price for a one off, seems to me he's expecting it to be more. i've started
using google maps only recently here in Galway to get directions to customers home's who are out in the sticks, as there
are no postcodes here at the moment you can not always rely on the satnav to input information, but a majority of the
time i'm able see customers homes using the streetview which is fantastic, so you can get a preview of what your up
against before you get there, as some customers bend the truth about the amount of windows they have to stupidly
get a cheaper estimate on the phone.

I tend to give a wide price -  its around £20 to £30 but it depends on me seeing the property.

sometimes they say they can send pictures but I now say you can but I still need to see the property.

Been stung a few times and priced it up too cheap for a first clean so just don't do it anymore.

After doing so many you also have a knack of knowing who can be converted to regulars and whos just one offs.

those who jump on the band wagon with me get it cheaper first clean because i make my money on the next clean, and the next,,,, and the next  ha ha ha ha lol

Hi Koopmaster, i like your wide price, the customer knows the worst case scenario, so hopefully it smoothens the actual
price you give them when you've seen the property in person with no arguments or haggling.

I had a call three weeks ago, it was a foreigner on the end of the line, Asian  ;D

At first I figured it was a sales type call or a 'infected-computer-give-me-your-credit-card-details-after-youve-logged-onto-this-website' - they nearly got my usual non-tolerant response about their mother.

Anyways, turns out it was a potential client. She lived in Switzerland and had a large property in the UK she needed a total external refurb on it. I quoted £800 after she forwarded a picture of it. They paid 75% up front.

Theyre regular custards now. I certainly pre-judged that call, at great expense too.

What happened was, I got a phone call today from abroad.  At first I thought it was one of those poxy scam calls about website SEO or computer viruses.

Anyway eventually a woman comes on the line and starts off spouting about a property they own which they need cleaning in the UK. They're out the country at the mo and will be until mid May but need it done urgently. It's about 45 miles away.

So we talk and she agrees to send a pic if she can find one and clarify what they want doing.

I take a look at the email once it comes through but my main condition is that we're paid before we do the work.

I phone her once I've considered my price and offer it to her as well as a price for insides and a regular outside price.

She agrees and has just paid my full asking price for an external window and external gutter and fascia clean. None of you have come close to what I asked for, nowhere near. And I'm not saying what the figure is but she was impressed with the website and that's what sold it.

They also agreed to our regular outside price and our insides price.

Believe in yourself and go for what you want. Don't ask - don't get.  8)

did u insist on the 75 up front then?       or did they offer?    that was a shrewd move on your part , perhaps you knew from experience could be an awful  haggling issue at jobs end

I insisted.

She kinda asked for it. She had already said that they couldnt get anyone to come along and do the works and that it was also urgent. Ball was in  my court.

Out of interest, how much would you have charged if he said he wanted a monthly regular clean? How would you have gone about it ?
