What are the advantages other than faster water production?

At the moment i am struggling to see the real benefits?

If you are on your own and can process water into an IBC tank, then probably none.

We saved water with our 4040 as we have reduced the waste to pure ratio to 50/50. Our 450 GPD had a restrictor fitted that was a 3 to 1 ratio waste to pure. But we could do that as we have a tds of around 125.

If you are in a hard water area then I would probably stick with that same ratio on my 4040.

Even with 2 of us our 450 GPD r/o kept up with our demands when planned properly, but with a third part time cleaner it was too much to expect of it, especially in the winter.

Damo I was gonna go for the 4040 as my 450 with booster seemed quite slow, due to dodgy filters. I decided to change the 3 pre filters and see how it goes, the filters were defo dodgy they were only a few months old but seemed there was something wrong but changed them and what a difference. It flows so much faster and works for me well so gonna stick with it. Minot bothered about wastage or getting water quicker as I'm not on a metre I don't go throu as much as most of you lot as I'm commercial and I know doing residential yous would double or triple the water usage to my water usage ✔ if anyone's got or getting a 450 gpd ro defo get a booster Aquatec 8800 as it makes a big difference. These pumps would be no good with the 4040 set up as you would need a more robust and powerful pump such as a clarks pump or something similar pic below 👳✔

I was going to add a piece about booster pumps as I also think this is a very relevant topic when considering the differences between both r/o's.
We have never used one although our pressure is around 50 psi with and average flow and could have done with one. I dear say our 450 GPD unit would have been faster if we had a booster pump fitted and would have sufficed.

I also believe, rightly or wrongly, that the small 24v booster pumps aren't really up to the job long term. They appear small and very 'diy' to me. The 230v units are a much better option IMO. But these are too big for a small r/o but very effective on a 4040.

A 4040 just seems to be a more professional option if you need a constant supply of water, which we have now. Rationing water and water planning are no longer a daily concern of mine. There were days when I sent the lads out with enough water but didn't have enough for my own needs. That's a no no.  If you have a big business, its a 4040.  

I also say that we could have managed ok with the 450GPD had we added another IBC tank, but I didn't have room in the garage for it.
