 Hi Guys & Gals, just looking for some advice, i try and keep all my work with in a 20 mile radius of my home,
 occasionally i get calls for jobs way out of my area, if the job is worthwhile i will do it but bump the price up
 for the extra fuel cost. So to other CIU windys out there how do you work out the extra cost on top of your cleaning price for jobs miles out of your normal working area, be it time, fuel, milage, any feedback appreciated.

Had this situation last week director of a commercial property I do wanted me to go to Boddlewyden  which is an hour round trip for me so explained I would have to price in travelling time which he understood job was in and out on a 3 storey barn conversion the 3rd storey being velox only normally 60 quid but told him 90 quid .... didnt charge fiver for fuel

I tend just to add travelling time at our target hourly rate.  I ignore traveling costs because the chances are we'll get more work in the area we're travelling to, so it simply won't be an issue soon. Plus, our hourly rate's high enough to cover it.

After a local windy was rude when I offered him some work a few miles off my patch, I did just this.  I now have a day's work in the new area.  They are all paying something of a premium so I'm VERY pleased to be covering it.

We travel out alot just price jobs up at what I'm happy with. My longest job away is 5 hours there and back every 6 weeks. We've git work in Leicester, Dover, Cambridge, Felixstowe, east London, north London south London Essex, west end & docklands and spend lots on fuel lol !!!! ✔👍

i dont take on any work  outside of my 10 mile area.no need to.plenty of work to go at most of the month anyway.

prices kept reasonable and competitive

also during the spring/summer months im kept busy with add on jobs usually from existing customers.

5 hours traveling time is that for one job.? i would rather work local for the 5 hours than drive that far.

i couldnt be bothered mate!

loads of work on my doorstep!!no starting before 9am and home around 4pm or 5pm at the latest!!

£15 a week on fuel

2500-3000 miles a year in the work van!

I just add the fuel on top of my normal £60 an hour rate plus travelling time.

+1 on the 10 mile thing. (Well 12 actually)

But if a "big job" £200 plus - say a school or such like was within 30 miles I'd have a look.

You gotta go where the work is, I don't mind the travelling as ill drive there and my son drives back. Yes one job a big care home as we do over 15 for this company you go to where they are being built and money all adds up. Pays the wages bills and mortgage. Yes I go through fuel but I'm earning the money to pay for it.

Daz my ole son we start at 4.30am finish by around 12 / 1 o'clock. Hate getting up early but once I'm up and were out we miss the traffic and come home and miss the traffic so works for me as we have keys to get in offices and care homes the old folks are up early. 👍

Just back from a two day job down on the south coast. Hours drive. I put £100 per day on the job to cover lost income and fuel expenses.

if its far away try priceing it on a weekend and have a day out there with the family so you kind of don't lose out on money or time ?

i asked to clean 5 houses 15 miles from me,i could have said yes but its out of my area and you have the added stress of if there are any call backs you got the ballache of driving all the way back for 1 job.

Do your job properly and you don't get call backs  only kidding.

The furthest I go is around 12 miles. I just ask the 1st enquirer to get me more work in the area to make it worth my while.

I only ever clean 2 monthly in areas where I need to charge a fortune.......err I mean a premium price for too.

Started one area by doing a £25 job. Turned up on the day of cleaning and they'd got me another customer already. I now have some of my best paid work in this area.

1st cleans you have a higher chance of a call back.

I think if your a sole trader keep it local.
If you have 2 or more vans on the road then you would need to extend your cleaning circle to cover the extra work you would need.

My point is if your a sole trader dont waste your day driving around keep it compact as possible.
Canvass where you live and gain more work there.
Its there you just gotta find it.

We cover the entire UK and work in teams of 2 with 3 teams on the go at the moment,

Its kept very simple, prices range from £120 a man day ranging up to £200 a man day.

We are fully booked up for 6 days a week constantly and work the odd sunday at times.

We are based in Stoke-On-Trent and usually work within a 90 mile radius of the city. Over the next few weeks though we're working as far south as Dorset and Devon and as far north as Kilmarnock in Scotland.

All good fun and there's plenty of money out there to be had if you're willing to go and fetch it.

Or if you're happy working alone in your local town then fair play.

Each to ones own.
